VERY bad customer service! Called and emailed the company and didn't receive an answer for 3 days. Response came via email, whereas the respondent, Ginni, tried to sell me a 4 year old cat not associated with the pure bred Siberian Breed i was interested in, for $65.00. Now i know times get busy with breeders, but still, this is no way to treat a customer who was polite and has specific needs expressed! In her email she asks me why i want a Siberian, do i have allergies, and lots of prying questions. In my opinion, this breeder is very rude.

Overview:

Overall my experience with this breeder was very bad, here is how i would scale this breeder from 1 to 10:

I gave this breeder a 2, but had to hesitate a moment over giving them a 1. I would NOT recommend this breeder to anyone looking for a Siberian or Maine Coon cat. If you don't understand why, just try giving them a call or filling out their form on their website and see just how long it takes to get a response:

So true! I wanted a Siberian about a year ago and got mixed up with some dame in Montana who bred cats out of her home and spent all her time on the computer when she wasn't taking care of about three litters at a time. I had been watching her website (Bigskysiberiankatz) and she must spend have hours a day on it besides devoting her entire house to the cats. A friend told me there were cats everywhere. She said she slept on a mattress in the living room and there were litter boxes all over the place. At $800 a cat she is really raking it in and I wonder how many times a year those poor cats are forced to breed. I finally found a kitten from a wonderful lady in Minnesota. A very small outfit and a very small website. I had to wait forever, but it was really worth it.

I am the breeder this individual complained about and I want to thank Cindy 57 for a very accurate account of what a hobby breeder is and does. I returned this potential adopters e-mail within 3 business day with an apology due to my work being very demanding at the time. YES I do have a real job...raising Siberians is not my livelyhood and I am not a "company" as he/she thinks. Raising cats is a very demanding job and it is certainely not a money maker as one might think. Ask any breeder.

The person who contacted me also has a different e-mail address than the one posted on this complaint. Makes me wonder if he/she hoped I wouldn't make a connection to this complaint. I will be most happy to post the e-mail response I sent to this individual to show what was said or you can e-mail me at gintgin@msn.com and I'll be happy for forward the response. He/she wanted a Siberian cat with blue eyes (a must) and a light colored coat. I informed this individual that I do not breed color points nor are there any in my lines. I referred him to an out-of-state breeder who breeds color points and knowing the price was steep offered a male, lynx point I rescued from our local shelter for $65 if things did not work out for him.

Any reputable breeder is going to ask a potential adoptor questions about themselves. If you do not want to share information about yourself, do not expect to get information about their kittens.

Breeder are not "companies." They are private people who have a hobby of raising purebred cats. It is an expensive hobby and kittens who are not bred for the show hall or breeding program are sometimes placed as pets.

Siberian cats are rare, and breeders receive hundreds of emails and phone calls each month. Most breeders work full time, have a family and raise cats. If they are spending time on email and phone it is time not spent on the cats, family or work.

Before you investigate adopting a purebred cat, it would be a good idea for you to research breeder responsibilities and what types of questions you should expect.

Over all, with the exception of the breeder trying to sell you a rescue cat (unless you notified her you had not money and needed a cheap cat), none of the complaints you are making are valid.
