I took my son’s car in for a check engine light and a brake light diagnosis. We were quoted $80 for each diagnosis, $160, however only half of that would go towards repairs, which I didn’t like but still let them proceed. We were given a quote of just under $2000 and since our car was 20 years old and it’s worth nowhere near that, we decided to think about it. Went to pick the car up and suddenly the diagnosis was $215 instead of the $160. The lady who quoted me $160 sat right next to the owner as we were discussing and she never said a word that she had misquoted us. Not very honest! With a lot of effort, I was able to argue it back down. They said I needed brakes, and that would be $850. I thought that was high so I decided to do the brake job myself for $200 – just because I was told my brakes were bad. They were not, I had 50% at least left on the front and probably 80% on the rear. A little ridiculous to say the brakes needed to be done. In the process of doing the brakes, we found a vice grip hanging from the bottom of the car. Turns out that was used to diagnose the Check Engine Light and they failed to complete the job by removing the vice grip. The vice grip was shutting off the vent to the gas tank, thus causing my son all kinds of grief. You can’t put gas in the tank if the vent line is blocked. Plus he was taking his girlfriend to see Taylor Swift that night and it caused him all kinds of grief - not being able to put gas in the car.
It is rare that I have ever felt like the customer doesn’t matter. I asked for my money back for all our grief, and they have said no. They screwed up my son’s car, they admit that – they caused him enormous grief – yet they have no concern for their screw up and what they put him through. I am considering a law suit and will update if that happens. This place was not honest in any way shape or form, they screwed my car up simply doing a diagnosis, and they still charge me full price and say sorry folks, we screwed up and we do not care about the hassles we may have caused you.
