Heathlands Hotel Bournemouth review: Use of bar and entertainment area

Good Morning

I would like to raise an issue that spoilt our stay at The Heathlands Hotel Bournemouth on Saturday 10.02.24.

We booked this night stay over the phone via your Call Centre on 23.02.24.

We checked in and all was fine, in the evening we went to go into the only open bar where they had entertainment on and was stopped by two very officious ladies who asked for our wrist band, we said we didn't have one they said we could not go in they were running a function, I said do we need to pay you to come in they said no you can't come in you when we questioned them they sent us to Reception, we went back to reception who said it was a private function and we would have to sit outside in the seated area on our own and the bar would not be open this ares, we would have to go into the entertainment area to buy our drinks and then remove ourselves straightaway to sit outside like second class citizens. Now here is the crux of the complaint at no time were we told we would not be allowed into the evening bar area for the entertainment when we booked, we were not sold the rooms cheaper because facilities were unavailable to us, we were not told the lounge bar would be closed and we would have to sit on our own in this uninhabited area. On checking in at Reception we were not advised that we would not be allowed in to sit around the open bar area , this completely spoilt our night away being treated so disrespectfully. We have stayed at this hotel on many times before and never received this issue so it came out of the blue.

Having this altercation left us feeling very stressed and upset and the night away was supposed to have been a stress relieving night away in a pleasant atmosphere and surrounding.
