I have not had good service from Grand Circle's scheduling and billing departments. After I had given them my routing and account numbers for the full payment for our tour, I received a "confirmation" email thanking me for payment. However, when checking my bank account regarding something else, I noticed some days later the payment had not been collected. I called Grand Circle's billing office and she insisted I contact my bank and call her back. She did so in a decidedly rude fashion and did not admit the possibility that they had been at fault. I called my bank and went over the routing and account numbers I had given Grand Circle; the bank said they were correct and anyway that they would not have returned the payment request unfilled. They think the tour company used incorrect numbers or sent the request to the wrong place. I understand slip ups happen, especially when dealing with a behemoth tour business like Grand Circle, but the discourteous way the person responded to me in the billings office is not what you expect from a company you have a track record with and to whom you are making a substantial payment. By the way, I looked up other reviews of Grand Circle's customer service department and complaints are widespread.
Recommendation: This would never happen with the Rick Steves travel company.
