Summary of Issue with Goldin Auctions - Lot
I was the high bidder ($1000) for almost a week and I stayed focus on the lot for all the month!
In the final hours before the auction ended, the seller changed some of the photos to try to attract more bidders. My $1000 bid was reasonable for a set that was described as limited to 500. However, after he changed the photos it became clear the cards were not limited at all, they are the unlimited version. He thinks he is sitting on a treasure, but he is not.
Approximately 2 hours before the end of the auction, the lot was removed with the message "Issue beyond our control".
I contacted Goldin support to ask if it was a description error and confirmed I was still willing to pay my bid ($1000 + premium).
Goldin's reply:
Unfortunately, we're unable to disclose the reason this item was removed from the auction. However, it is currently expected to be relisted. We appreciate your understanding."
After that experience, I found Goldin has no real customer service - no phone, no live chat, only templated email replies. Ebay always better.
Recommendation: Dont waste your time
