⭐ Goldin Auctions Review – Extremely Disappointing Experience
I bought a Dec. 10, 1984 Michael Jordan Signed Sports Illustrated Cover from Goldin in 2023. I didn’t verify it at the time because Goldin is known as a “top-tier” auction house, and everything I’ve bought from other sites (Pristine, Hollywood Memorabilia, etc.) has always checked out.
When I finally went to verify it, the authentication sticker and serial number didn’t show up in any database. Goldin later told me it was actually sold with no COA and couldn’t be authenticated by anyone. That was shocking for a company of this size.
Goldin refunded the purchase price, but they refused to reimburse the $551.14 CAD in duty I paid to import an item that turned out to be unverified. That cost came directly out of my pocket, and I don’t feel that’s acceptable on an item they shouldn’t have listed in the first place.
I also asked if they could replace it with an authenticated MJ item. They said nothing was available, even though multiple MJ pieces are listed on their site right now for less than what I paid.
The only helpful person was Nick from shipping — he communicated clearly and took responsibility. Unfortunately, the rest of the customer service experience did not match that level of professionalism.
If this review is still up, it means the duty issue was never resolved and no replacement was offered.
As a long-time fan of the show, this changed how I see Goldin. I hope they improve their quality control and customer service going forward.
