On September 20, 2012, I received a frantic call from my mother stating a Frank Lugo(from above company) called her stating that there was an emergency regarding me and that he needed a case number. She thought something violent had happened to me as a result. She then proceeded to call my place of employment to reach me. I was able to be reached, I then proceeded to call the number that was left for my mother. Apparently, it was Genesys National Recovery (Ladies of America) seeking to collect a debt on my gym membership. I explained to the company that I had changed debit cards because my card was lost or stolen and that I could update my information and pay for back two months and late fees. He began to then speak in a convoluted way explaining that the company would accelerate the life of my membership and I had to pay until October 2014 or else go to court and pay for court fees of $3, 213 although my back balance was roughly $60-$65. I explained to them that I was not sure what was going on, he became more convoluted and threatening. I told him I had no problem paying my back bill, but I wanted a copy of contract and written efforts of them trying to contact me. They will not and have not provided anything. They continuously threaten to sue me despite my stating that I wanted to pay my balance and a copy of my bill. I wanted written proof of back bills. They have been rude and harassing, even calling my mother to insinuate that I was in an emergency. She left work in tears and shaking because of the threatening message left. She really thought something had happened to me. This company works on behalf of Ladies of America (National Fitness) and they use the slightest infraction to extract fees via collection in an extreme manner. They scream at you on the phone and speak down to you when you simply want more information. They are taking advantage of people left and right. Please review this company. There are many complaints on the web. Ladies of America is definitely a fraudulent company and they work with this company to take you to court.

The biggest mistake of my life!

Approximately a year ago I signed a contract for my two nieces and myself at a Lady of America gym that was steps away from my house. The first thing I noticed was how irresponsible they were in regards to their instructors and punctuality of such. Classes were constantly cancelled, instructors would start classes half hour late, I work night shift so scheduling my workouts is not an easy matter. One day out of the blue they told us the gym was closing and we had to go to another one that is about 7 miles away, they said to try it that if it was inconvenient we could cancel. Guess what? THEY LIED ! When I called them to cancel they told me that the gym had to be 25 miles or more from my home in order to cancel. I continued to pay because I am responsible but recently as many other companies my company cut hours and employees and I could no longer afford my rent, car payment etc and I called them to try to make some type of arrangement to which the almost robotic and monotone voice on the other end of the line answered, nothing we can do you are under contract. Now I have this recovery company calling me telling me they are taking me to court and also as mentioned previously called the emergency number (my mother) to tell her it was an emergency, etc my mom called me immediately in a panic thinking something had happened. I am so angry at these people. They are scam artists and unscrupulous and go to any length to make money. I still can't believe that companies like that are able to operate and get away with this nonsense.

Same thing has just happened to me.

Yesterday, 16 october 2012, I received a call from Jenny Fernández stating that I owed Lady of America $350.00 and that I had to appear on court for a lawsuit if I didnt pay them. I explained to them that I personally closed my account and made my last payment on September of 2012, I spoke to a Isabel Alayón and after paying what I owed I asked for a written confirmation that I never received. I told them that I have proof that I made that payment and I still have a copy of my original contract. Now they are saying that I owe $350.00 for a Maintenance Fee of $25 that got interest (a big one!) and became $350.00. This is the first time that I hear from them and this alleged debt. Its completely crazy. They wanted me to pay via phone and I told them that I would pay only if they could send me written notice and proof that I owe this debt. Since I didnt agree to pay and inmediatley called a lawyer they said that they would send me via mail the court order for a lawsuit. Its completely crazy all this. I will write to everyone and talk to anyone until this is clear. They even said that this could affect my credit and also my salary. Im a very responsible person and have never been late on my dues. Also this has never showed up in my credit report. I think this is all a big scam to take advantage of working class people. This a real disgrace.
