At 900 pm 9/26/2022 a pop up showed up on my computer stating that I needed to called a 909- number to resolve this problem. A recording on the pop up that shutting down my computer will not help in that I was infected with a "Trojan Horse". I called the number and a gentleman (had an Indian accent) named Regan Clark Jr. He stated that I had no firewall and was vulnerable to further attaches by viruses but not to worry in that had a software that would protect my computer from further attacks. He did not give me breakdown computer software package. He requested a scanned check for $1596 for this software package, I said that it was too expensive for what I could afford on my retirement income, he then lowered the amount to $1000. He asked me to write out a check for $1000 and make it out to Novatech (I thought that was strange in that the company was Geek Square IP Security.) I scanned the check but later found this was a scam by calling a company that deals in security program installations HelloTech) which he believed this to be a scam (this person stated that their website was not legitimate and that it was strange that this company would not take credit cards (Visa, Mastercard). I cancelled the check through my bank (Chase) and change my log on password to prevent any more scamming from my account. I was called this afternoon and a message was left on my cell phone (10/1/2022) lawyer named Andrew Wilson (Indian) at [protected] ext111 and he threatened me for the payment for the services already rendered. I did not call return his call. I am 100 % convinced that I as scammed but cancelling the check from my bank prevented any more scam (fraud). I checked ' scam detector and found serval other people were scammed by this outfit.

Country of complaint: United States

Desired outcome: Request investigation of Geek Square IP Security business practices and stop there harassment of senior citizens.
