Internet Fraud – Garrisons Corporation scam regarding internet computer services. Vendor contacted me via Internet and I made two check payments made to Garrisons Corporation for unlimited lifetime security/network support services ($1499 on 10/28/21 and $1999 on 01/21/22). Vendor refused to provide further support unless additional $999 payment made (09/06/22).

Details of Events:

 - On 10/28/21, desktop computer locked and a popup Microsoft message appeared indicating that the computer is compromised and to call the number on the screen for resolution. Spoke to Clay Jensen who stated he is a Microsoft L4 technician (phone number [protected]). He opened case #EW4545 regarding network security breach and transferred me to a Microsoft partner (Garrisons Corporation). Garrisons indicated that they will provide a L7 network technician for foreign address removal. This service can be one-time for $199 (no guarantees of reoccurrence) or unlimited lifetime security support for $1499. Selected lifetime service, scanned a check for $1499 to Garrisons, and vendor remediated the problem and cleaned-up the computer.

 - On 01/21/22, Garrisons contacted me regarding IP network address breaches that they discovered on my computer. Stated that remediating this issue is not part of my current agreement. I provided a scanned check for $1999 for an additional unlimited lifetime service.

 - On 09/06/22, I contacted Garrisons to perform a maintenance/cleanup. While online with them, they reported finding breaches and stated that they could not remediate because I must have deleted their software. If I wanted them to fix the problem, I must pay an additional $999 to have the software reinstalled. I stated that I had in no way deleted any software and already paid $3500 for unlimited lifetime service and this should be covered. They refused to reinstall the software and perform the cleanup. Contacted them 2 more times that day to resolve this and they refused until I paid more.

 - On 09/06/22, contacted Bank of America to file a dispute regarding both prior payments made to Garrisons who is refusing to provide agreed-upon unlimited lifetime services. Bank of America provided a response on 10/28/22 that they were unable to provide a return of any funds because the checks were authorized by me.

 Note: Garrisons Corporation website (garrisonscorporation.com) lists their location as 90 Holly Street Unit #2, Port Reading NJ 07064. Mapquest picture shows a residential condo unit.

 New Update to Above Note: On 10/10/22, I checked Garrisons website and they provided a new location of 125 Newfield Ave Suite D, Edison NJ 08037, phone number [protected]. Upon checking this address online, I got “Buy Auto Parts” as the resident for Unit D with phone number [protected]. I called this number, they confirmed the location, and stated that they never heard of Garrisons Corporation. As of 11/28/22, their website location is back to 90 Holly Street Unit #2.

Desired outcome: Please refund at least $2500.00. I paid $3500.00 for unlimited services which the vendor refuses to provide unless I send them an additional $1000.00

Yeah, Me2. They planted a Malware Virus when I clicked on to Facebook comment on my account. Call the number and they reveal bad news about your computer is infected with spyware. I should've suspected something when asked $199 for removal. I went ahead and paid it.

They then call the next day informing me that my IP Address has been corrupted on my network and try upselling me for an expensive security upgrade. I knew then that this was a scam and hung up.

I contacted Dell Customer Support and used my service agreement for technical support to remove all the malware they had put on my computer software. It took them over 45 minutes going through my Windows 32/System to delete these spyware files. I should have immediately called Dell support. Lesson learned.

I was also scammed on 4/3/23. I was attempting to download a blank calendar. A pop-up from "Microsoft Security" appeared. It stated, "You must contact us immediately so that our engineers can walk you though the removal process over the phone. You computer is disabled." There was a repetitive and unnerving voice repeating a similar message. The phone number listed was [protected].

I foolishly called this number rather than Microsoft support. A calm, woman with an Indian accent instructed me to download the Amix? APP so that she would be able to remotely shadow my computer. I complied. She then moved about my desktop, showing me how my computer was compromised by "foreign entities" and deleting files that were "Slowing my computer down."

She asked me to create a unique "code." When someone from her engineering team called back in 45 minutes, I would need to ask them to recite the specific code.

She had me chose a security plan after an explanation as to why antiviral software was not protective enough. I chose a 3 year plan for $499. She told me to scan a check as my credit cards could be compromised. She had me write "professional services" in the memo of the check. She said I would get a deal of 5 year protection for the price of the 3 year plan.

She asked me to log into my email. From there, she pulled up a document she had sent. She asked me to click verify on the document (?) which somehow sent an email from me to info@garrisonscorporation.com along with the scanned image of the check which stated,

"I (my company name) authorize GARRISONS CORPORATION to charge my Checking account ending with xxx with the check no. Y for an amount of USD $499.99 for professional services.

I understand that GARRISONS CORPORATION is an independent third party vendor providing professional service and is not associated with any other brands.

Thanks & Regards

(my name)"

She saved a the authorization form to my desktop.

She then told me to hold for 45 minutes as that is how long the "clean up" or whatever they were pitching would take.

She gave me her name - Emma Cole

And listed the name of the engineer who was assigned to help me, Ron Clark (haha).

She told me to call the number [protected] by the next day or else my case would no longer be active.

At this point - my adrenaline calmed down and my husband came downstairs and immediately unplugged the wifi and shook me out of my stupor.

I feel so incredibly foolish and violated.

Steps taken immediately following this:

- called bank and froze accounts

- went to bank and changed my account

- changed all my passwords

- took my hard drive into a local shop to get cleaned ($200)

- checked my computer settings and upped my basic protections

I hope this helps. These creeps are so intricate and I am pretty shocked that I so dutifully followed their commands every step of the way as each step was so obviously shady.

I too was scammed by GarrisonCorp. My computer locked up with a message from Microsoft that my computer was comprised and to call the number on the popup. I called and the number and was told that I had a virus and for them to clean up the computeer it would cost 899.99 via a check that they scanned and took over my computer. I figured that they were Microsoft authorized. I tried to put a stop payment on the check with my bank, but because they did a direct debit on the check it went through for payment. I had to take my computer to Best Buys to have the infected computer cleaned out and all of my passwords changed. I tried to call the numbers that I was given from GarrisonCorp., however they placed me on hold for 5 minutes and then hung up on me.

I too have been scammed by Garrison Corporation. Toby said that my computer had viruses and was very kind and helpful. The next day when he called back he put me thru to the billing dept and were going to refund my LIFELONG contract. Well there James tried to help me get an online bank acct which he messed with, messed with my credit cards and then lied and said he over refunded me and I would have to buy gift cards and send them. Then he said they were not activated, yes they were because he cleaned them out for $1000.00 and then was sending me to my bank to get $100 in cash to buy more gift cards and when I checked he had not refunded anything to my account and I am still out $1000! Had to close all my stuff down and am in process of redoing it. I am livid. These people need to be hung upside down. Do not do business with Garrison Corporation. They are fraud scammers.
