Featherweather review: Steve madden winter coat with defective zippers

Good Afternoon,

On February 15th I purchased a Steve Madden winter coat on a store promotion at Fairweather, located in the Scarborough Town Centre, Ontario, Canada. On the first day of wearing the coat I had issues with the front coat zipper staying closed. This was due to the bottom metal clip missing.

I returned the coat and received a replacement coat on February 19th. This coat is not my primary winter coat, therefore, since that date I have only warn it 2 other times. So you can just figure my surprise when the same issue happened with the front zipper but this time I was able to see the problem.

Seems these coats have inferior zippers since the clip that the zipper slides into on the bottom is not attached to the zipper and if there is even a little tension when sitting down it pulls out. This coat has two zippers on each side to open if you are sitting down and I use them when sitting, therefore, this should not be happening.

Then I will get to the side zippers which get stuck in the fabric making them impossible to move. I tried to gently pull the zipper up and down to see if I could dislodge the fabric stuck in it to only have the fabric rip and then the zipper to get stuck again further down.

I am now unable to return this coat back to the store since their policy is “Exchange with pleasure within 7 days”. Since I have had the same issue with the front zipper on both coats you must agree that there is a defect in the zipper as well as an issue in how the side zipper was installed.
