To whom it may concern,

My husband and I have had a water main break on our street as of Thursday night, and have not had water supply since then. We were told by Epcor that they were not going to hook up a a temporary water supply from a fire hydrant, due to the fact that two days of no water is not long enough of a time to merit such an action. Epcor told us they could hook up a temporary water supply from a fire hydrant that would enable us to have water, but were instead focusing on fixing the main break itself. It has now been three days since we have had any water and there is no indication that the problem will be fixed in a timely manner.

My question is how long does a household have to wait until it is determined that a hookup to a water supply is necessary? It has been three days since we have had any water, and we have been unable to shower, unable to do laundry, and unable to cook. Water is a basic necessity of life and my family has been unable to conduct the aforesaid activities in addition to being in distress. There has been no communication from Epcor to advise us of any status or progress update, and as such we are living with this uncertainty, which as a tax payer and Epcor customer, is not something we feel we should have to deal with.

As of 9pm on Saturday night the problem seems to have gotten worse as they are digging up additional sections of road and there is now a 4th break in the water main line as seen on the Epcor website. This does not seem like a problem that will be rectified and I'm concerned about whether we will be receiving water within the coming week.
