Wired $100k on Big Promises. A Year Later: Excuses and a Gag Clause
I invested $100,000 with Dave Wilkes through his fund LIQD SPV 005 (LIQDFundSPV Master LLC) in June 2025. What followed was more than a year of broken payment promises, shifting numbers, and pressure tactics. Everything below is documented in writing.
July 2025: Dave promised a large distribution "in September." September came — I got $10,000 and a new promise that $250k "will post next week." It never did.
October 2025: "The 100% return will be available next week for distribution." It wasn't.
November 2025: "I'll get you wire receipt on $100k this week." No wire. When I pressed him, he wrote "I've never lost money for investor. I'll return your investment."
January 2026: "Wire will go out for the balance in your account... Wires will be received by EOM." No wire.
February 2026: He sent a written apology admitting the fund's investments were, in his words, "in some cases, lost" — eleven days after claiming he'd never lost investor money. When I questioned his accounting, he sent me wire receipts as "proof" of my disbursements — made out to a completely different company that has nothing to do with me. He also sent me another investor's tax K-1 by mistake, so I know how carefully investor money and records are handled here.
His own numbers never match. In February 2026 he told me my balance was $81,000 and claimed I'd taken $20,000 in disbursements. In August 2026 he sent me a redemption agreement stating I'd received $70,000 in distributions and my balance was $43,872. My bank records show exactly $60,000 received. Three different stories, all from him, all in writing.
That August agreement was the final insult: it contained a distribution figure he knows is false, a strict permanent gag clause that would bind me the moment I signed — before any payment — and when I asked him to simply correct the false number, his answer was: "we're not making any changes to language. You don't need to sign if you're not comfortable." In other words: sign the false document and shut up, or don't get your money.
I'm posting this so no one else wires this man a dollar. Do your due diligence, ask him the questions I didn't, and demand everything in writing — the writing is the only part of my experience with Dave Wilkes that turned out to have any value.
Recommendation: Keep your money. The returns are imaginary; the excuses are endless.
