On Friday, February 19th, 2010, I received a telephone call from the number [protected], which identified themselves as NCC, a division of Commonwealth Financial Systems, Inc. The call was in regards to a debt owned by the woman who held my cell phone number two years ago, before I registered it with Verizon Wireless.

When I attempted to tell the representative that I was not this woman and kindly asked him to remove my number from their call list, he hung up on me. I called back, and immediately asked to speak to the floor supervisor. Again, I was hung up on. Finally, I called the corporate offices, but was first transferred to the customer service. The representative told me to "get over it" and then called me a liar, to which I responded that I was going to file harassment charges against their company.

I immediately called the Federal Trade Commission, registered on the National Do Not Call List, and filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau, the Attorneys General of the State of Florida and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. I contacted John Kotula, NCC's CEO, and was able to speak to his secretary. I informed her that I had filed complaints with the above mentioned agencies, and that I was not going to accept this harassment any longer.

I wholly encourage ANYBODY who has had to deal this this abuse to do the exact same thing.

Always always always file a complaint with the Attorney Generals office. File in Pennsylvania and also in the sate you reside in. This is a scam junk debt buying company. They change dates of service, names and addresses. They pray on unsuspecting consumers by telling them the only way to handle it is to pay them.

Unfortunately, reporting financial debt collectors to a "Do Not Call List" will not prevent them from calling us. I wish it did. I received a phone call today from Commonwealth Financial and was literally yelled at over the phone about paying my bills on time. I asked for verification of the debt by mail and the agent talked over me, yelled, and didn't want to listen to a word I said. They refused to comply with the law in which my rights are substantive. So naturally I got hostile from frustration. I also receive several calls a day every week from NCO Financial Systems who calls under different numbers. Perhaps we should all write letters to our Congress asking for some changes to debt collectors. Such as, debt collectors cannot call more than once every two weeks. Debt collectors must send the notice by mail first, and only call if no response is given in one to three months time. I could actually live with this... And it wouldn't feel so much like harassment either. Any thoughts?

On May 21, 2010, I had been paying on my account with NCC on time every month until Oct 25, 2010. On this date the representative I had been dealing with no longer worked there and no one bothered to contact me regarding my November payment arrangements. So, I called them back to find out why there was a missed payment as an automatic debit from my checking account. I was then assigned Mike Turner the alleged "Supervisor". I told him to debit my account on December 31, 2010 because that was when I'd have enough funds for the payment. He failed to comply and he debited my account on December 25, 2010. He debited my account into 4 separate transactions instead of the lump sum that I'd agreed upon when I set my payment arrangement. Not only did he run the payment on the wrong day he overcharged me $15. As a result of this, I was charged $140 in overdraft fees from my bank. I approached Mike Turner in a civil manner about this and he yelled at me stating that he was not going to pay me anything except the over charge of $15. When I told that I did not authorize this payment date he says I did and when I told him to let me listen to our recored conversation he said it was none of my business and that he's not letting me listen to it. He told me to never call his office again and that I needed to show statements of my overdraft fees. I faxed all the info. he needed and more. The more I proved to him he was responsible, he kept looking for excuses to not pay me back. He accused me of wanting them to give me money. I hung up on him and called back to speak to a manager. They transferred me to Mike Turner again and he refused to give me any information to a manager. He then said that he was the owner and it was his company. Throughout this whole ordeal Mike Turner yelled at me repeatedly, told me he wasn't going to pay me, he told me never to call his office, and he said he doesn't want my business. I told him he no longer has access to my account because he fraudulently took extra money from me and thought I was not smart enough to notice it.
When I brought it to his attention he quickly admitted it. But, refuses to let me listen to the recorded conversations we've had. If he has nothing to hide then why won't he let me listen to it? Well, because Mike Turner is a crook and a liar. He knows I did not authorize this payment.
In all, avoid NCC. Mike Turner is a crook, a thief and an incompetent liar. This is far from over... what he is doing is unethical and unlawful.
