Using Doc Find - a doctor search engine provided by my insurance company, I found Dr. Valrie M. Honablue. Her location was convenient to my work, and I was limited with my choices for a female doctor. I arrived early for my appointment to fill out the new patient paperwork, then continued to wait an hour to be seen. This is not typical at a counselor's office. Your appointment time is your appointment time. It's not like going to a family doctor which is unpredictable.

I walked over to one of the two girls sitting behind the glass and said "excuse me, how much longer do you think it will be? I have an another engagement soon." She told me that there were still two people ahead of me. I said "but I had an appointment, and I left work early to come here." She didn't care - she immediately got an attitude, made ugly faces at me, mouthed off while pointing her finger at me...I said "is this typical of how you treat your patients?" and she rolled her eyes and got up and walked away.

I waited for a minute, and then saw a woman walk out from around the corner and said "I would like to file a former complaint about the young lady sitting here, what do I need to do?" The woman - who was Dr. Honablue - looked at me, ignored me, and scurried into her office.

It was a total waste of my time, money (missing work), and it was a very upsetting experience. If you have googled Dr. Honablue, you will see what type of doctor she is and further understand why the whole ordeal was extra upsetting, and very strange. I have never experienced anything like it. Girl two behind the desk assured me that I would not be billed, and I assured her that I would never come back. Both girls seemed too young for their jobs - maturity goes a long way.

Dr. Honablue clearly doesn't care, and neither does her staff - but they will take your money. I would also like to add that the office was a little ghetto, and the questionnaire that you fill out as a new patient is filled with strange 'street clinic' type questions.

I reported the incident to my insurance company. What goes around comes around ladies.

To the above poster:
It's "berate" not "berade." I think you must be one of her staff. I could write a book on how horrible Dr. Honablue is, but suffice it to say, she is the worst physician I have ever come in contact with in my 51 years on earth. She does not listen to the patient and she acts superior to everyone she comes in contact with. Not only is her bedside manner terrible, but I seriously question her competence.

To 'needed a doctor': So you wanted to file a "former complaint" ...? Really? Lady, brush up on your grammar before you gather up the gall to denounce something as "ghetto". Oh, and you may want to look up the difference between a 'counselor ' and a psychiatrist (MD). A counselor has a timer on desk to manage appointments and is not authorized to write prescriptions (in most states, including GA). A psychiatrist, such as Dr. Honablue is a medical doctor and is authorized to write prescriptions, mostly psychotropic drugs. Now as much as you complain and berade the staff (who have no control over waiting times), would you want someone who is managing your medication to have a timer on their desk and cut you off when youre explaining side effects or other issues that commonly arise with psychiatric medication, all for the sake of 'being on time' so you wont miss work...? Wise up and do your homework before you arrogantly waltz into situations of which you are clearly ignorant of. Your naivety is pathetic and thus makes no legitimacy as a "former complaint" .

Dr. Honablue has no heart. She is completely blind to the wishes of her patients' families and when we tried to ask her some questions about her treatment plan for my mother she told my brother he was arrogant. She is obviously on a power trip and can't see past her "33 years of experience" that she is so proud of long enough to consider anybody else's opinion. She not only called my brother arrogant to his face in front of my mother, but she also told my mom that it was our (the family's) fault that she was feeling so bad. Apparently, by asking questions and trying to do what is best for our mother we are preventing her from getting better. And, before all of this happened Dr. Honablue had already been working with my mother for 6 months with no improvement whatsoever, so it is only natural to start questioning whether she actually knows how to treat patients or if she only went to the classes that dealt with writing prescriptions and making money off of peoples' suffering. Dr. Honablue is not only my least favorite doctor (and she really doesn't even deserve the title) that I have ever come in contact with, she is also one of my least favorite people.
