We hosted a wedding at the Connecticut River Museum and had a horrendous experience working with the executive director and his wife, who was responsible for coordinating our event. In addition to being rude and difficult to work with, we also feel that they employed deceitful practices by promising a second group that they could use the tent and rental equipment rented directly by us, in our names, on the day following the wedding. We only learned of this when the director's wife let it slip in conversation before the wedding. They did not give us the option to share the cost of our rentals, which is standard business practice when two groups share rental equipment for back to back events. This is a significant expense of thousands of dollars. We have tried to resolve this matter with them and have received no response. This was by far my least favorite aspect of planning our otherwise happy event. The other staff at the Museum seemed pleasant, however our primary contact person at the Museum was rude to me (the bride) as well as to my family and husband on every occasion that we had contact with her. The Museum location itself is beautiful, but unless you have your heart set on this particular location, I would recommend having your wedding elsewhere.
