I recently had my cell phone number changed and since the first day of new service with my carrier, I have been receiving 2-5 harassing phone calls a day from BAC Debt Collector (Bank of America Corporation Debt Collector). The calls range anywhere from 8am to 9pm. This debt collector is calling in regards to a home loan for a gentleman by whom clearly does not correspond to this phone number. Upon clarifying this to the representative, she said I was lying and the company would continue to call until they settle the debt. I have no idea what else to do to resolve them making incessant harassing phone calls to me! I have been polite in trying to assist them with recognizing that they have the incorrect contact number for the gentleman in question. The constant calls also count against my monthly minutes for my phone service. I assume I will just have to begin ignoring the calls and not answer so they will get the message. It's really a shame that this company has chosen to make their business model one based on harassment and scare tactics. Bank of America will never have my business on any level of "services" they offer.

Ignoring the calls won't help. They have a computer making the calls with reps standing by. It cost them nothing to continue the calls.

I spoke to a lawyer and he explained that BAC makes more money if the house is forclosed. BAC is NOT Bank of America who owns the note. BAC is just the servicing company. If you try for a modification, each rep will tell you something different to do or a different place to send certain documents. When you follow up, you'll find that they have no records of such documents and you'll have to start all over. Once they finally acknowledge that they have your info they will tell you it is being reviewed and to call back in 30 days. When you call back, they have no record of any documents or review. They don't get paid as much if you pay the terms of your loan! They want you to forclose because it benefits them more so they intentially shuffle stuff around and don't communicate internally. This is by design. I would encourage anyone having difficulty with them to file as many complaints to the Federal Trade Commision as possible. It is easy and you can do it in 5 minutes by going to this link on the FTC's website:

Hope this helps!
