As a former employee with Charter One Bank, I can say they are very rigid about the policies governing their employees. Look out if you violate any of them. They talk about their "Credo" and how it is so important to them as a company. work life balance and all the other stuff about integrity and taking care of their employees. I have not been in their employ for over five years, however my daughter and daughter in law are still there. Recently my daughter tried to seek employment elsewhere because she felt she was treated unfairly at Charter Onederful, she was offered a position at another bank but needed a few more dollars to cover the health care and other costs. The other bank sent her to talk to another manager before they could offer her more money, the minute he found out who her Regional manager was the bank dropped the offer and she never heard from them again, this same thing happened with my daughter in law. It gets even better, my daughter in law had the opportunity to move to a different region, the job was hers (she was told), however again this same regional who ### blocked her before stepped in and that job fell through. So here is where I feel it is a complete violation of their own policy. If a family member wants to transfer to a branch where another family member is employed the answer has to be "NO". Well apparently this Regional decided that they could make an exception to the policy by offering my daughter in law the management position at the Branch my daughter works at. My daughter would then be transferred to a branch that she would be happy with. This did not happen, my daughter is a 40 hour employee and she was offered to move to a branch has a 30 hour opening with the promise of 40 hours in a neighborhood she doesn't want to be in. Essentially she is being forced from her long time position at a branch that she was key in establishing to satisfy the whim and manipulation of a power crazed Regional.

I have a personal loan at Charter One Bank. After having my accountant review my account, it turns out that Charter One has been taking TWO MONTHS of the loan payments out of my account every ONE MONTH. My attorney will be handling this. DO NOT bank with Charter One. This is a small bank who takes what they need to survive regardless if it's honest or legal. I'll update you after we've gotten them exposed.

This bank is really killing me. Can anybody tell me who is the regulator for this bank. How can I officially lodge a complaint against this bank? Please post it here.

Where is congress in all this. Why aren't they looking at the way this goons get away with all these fees?

I went to my ChaterOne Bank today to get their fees reversed on my account, but they declined doing that for me.
My business account went into overdrafts when they decided to deposit my store credit card transactions from 1 to 2 days up to 5 to 7 days.
So by them holding the deposits like they are doing has cost me over $950 in bank fees so far. They are also good for draining your savings account when they transfer your savings funds to cover overdrafts and then they still charge you the fees.
All totalled so far this year, CharterOne has charged me over $2, 000 in bogus bank fees and I haven't yet found anyone willing to take action to correct that.
They get huge taxpayer bailout funds and then they rob their customers like this? They should be jailed!
Class action suit anyone?

They sucked out all my money for over drafts. They would not even investigate the ebay purchases being made on the account, which racked up over $300 in fee.

They were nice, they gave me two options. Pull out of $700 to cover the account, of course before I get paid. Or break it down into bi-weekly payments I can’t make.

At this point I don’t care, send me to collections.
I’ll pay my bills at the drug store and use money orders.

They spun me around and slammed me over the piano bench and raped me on my house, my car payment, and the credit card. Only thing left is my soul, and they are trying to get that.

They received their $150 billion when they got in trouble, I got sent to collections. There is a special place in hell for them, hope there is enough room. And it is only going to get worse.

Charter One is the biggest rip off bank around! Does anyone know how to federally report their underhanded ways? The charge overdraft fees on charges that haven't even posted! They claim that they put the charges on "hold" and then have to charge the fee. They claim that their "on-line banking" is not an accurate available balnce but merely a ledger balance and the dates on the ledger balance aren't accurate. I had a balance of $12.29 on the 29th. On the 30th a charge for $6.00 went thru. They charged me $39.00 overdrafter because they had a charge (which wasn't authorized) for $31.86 "on hold" since the 28th. Yet when I check the account on line there was a balance of $6.29 ($6 charge removed) and 2 deposits of $386 made on the 30th. The charge for $31.86 posted on the 31st! So they charged me overdraft for something that hadn't posted until AFTER they got their $39!
I only use this account to pay rent and a piddly couple accounts and they can't stand that they can't cheat me any more like they used to so they do whatever they can to cheat me! No wondeer I call them CHEATER ONE! I can't wait until the first of the year when they have one less customer - ME!

Today I needed copies of bank statements online. This being the deadline for taxes, I needed access to Jan - March of 2008. I was told the online banking only has 18 months statements and they did not have access beyond that. So where do they go when they are not displayed. Seems like a lie to me. I was told to go to my local branch and have them print them off as they do have a record. My local branch wanted $60 to print of 6 statements. Why doesn't the government step in and punish these banks for taking advantage of its customers instead of rewarding them with Billions.

I have 7 accounts with charter one. Now looking to move them to a new bank.

Charter One decision makers, if you are reading this, take your statements, your accounts and your greedy business practices and shove them up your $%#!

I agree. I've lost $429 in the last three days in overdraft fees for charges that didn't even post until after credits INTO the account cleared and yet they've charged me anyway. I wish there was something I could do about these thieving ###! I'm so furious, I'm about the write to all my local news channels and even Oprah to try and get these people outed for the way they steal from their customers!

I absolutely agree with this. I just had to pay a $25.00 per page for a fax to another bank. I thought my loan was suppose tobe a fix rate however they added $50.00 in there for a 2 page Fax. DON'T BANK WITH CHARTER ONE!

I thought First Merit wats bad, until I went through Charter One. These scammers covered a $13 overdraft from ebay for sellers fees, now not only have they charged me the $35 overdraft fee but they are charging me $6.99 per day that the account is overdrawn. This country is going to hell in a handbasket with all of these corrupt politicians and the idiots that get elected to office. What ever happened to this being the land of the free and the home of the brave, seems to me that is is the LAND OF THE FEE AND THE HOME OF THE SLAVE. How is anyone supposed to make it in todays economy when the financial institutions screw you out of your hard earned money to fund their trips, and those ridiculous bonuses they get for screwing John Q. Public. I will never use Charter One again, after this run in my ### is going to hurt for a long time. How am I supposed to get my account back to normal when i'm getting charged hundreds of dollars per month for a $13 dollar overdraft. Something needs to be done about the blatant disrespect to the common working man.

Charter one bank allowed someone to open up an online banking profile in my name who was not me. I have been trying for 15 months to resolve this problem and had to file a police report to get this bank to do anything to help me with this situation. It was my employer who did this to me and now I have no job, benefits, and they are fighting my unemployment unfairly.
