place to buy furniture!
We purchased a sectional sofa last year from The Brick on St. James for several thousand dollars.
Made in Canada and seemed super comfortable and well built, this was finally the couch we had been looking for!
One year later we now realize how badly ripped off we were!
We cannot even sit on the large section anymore as the springs just sag to the floor and creaks and groans like a worn out old couch!
The other 2 pieces we stopped sitting on after realizing the poor quality piece of junk we purchased!
We do not DARE wash the removable covers!
Now we sit at our kitchen table for comfort.
After several calls and emails in regard to repair or replacement we hear nothing back other than someone will be in touch in 3 to 5 days, almost 1 month later still no call just more deflection!
Let’s not even talk about the layers of protection we had to put on all of the pieces as the threads in this high quality piece of furniture just keep coming undone!
I’ll leave at that. If you plan to purchase from here go ahead just don’t use it and it will be fine.
The Brick does not sell quality furniture they just charge quality prices!
Their automated responses to reviews is even more astonishing and shows their lack of will in remedying the situation.
The Brick buys furniture to sell you from multiple companies which give the poor product knowledge. They sell garbage and think it’s quality, they advertise quality everywhere on the website but it does not show in any way, shape or form.

Update
We had a inspector come look at our furniture and reccomended repair or replacement.
After waiting 2 weeks for a update we heard nothing and called back.
They said they had not recieved any information from the inspector and that nothing had been submitted.
So I called the inspector who informed me he had sent it that very day he was here!
I called The Brick back again and miraculously they suddenly order parts for the furniture!
Of course no idea what parts were ordered they did not have that information Lol!
No timeline as to when our apparent Canadian made parts will arrive lol.
NO idea when they will come pick up the furniture for repair
DO NOT BUY! DO NOT BUY!
DO NOT FALL FOR THETE SCAMS
YOUR FURNITURE WILL FALL APART IN LESS THAN ONE YEAR!
The Brick is a malicious lying company!

The Brick - Extended warranty
Don't even bother getting the extended warranty. They will find a reason not to cover the claim. I bought a sectional they claimed was down fill and (found out it wasn't). The feathers kept sticking out and poking through the fabric. I called to complain and was told that if they send someone out to look at it will be counted as a claim even if they don't fix it. So I decided not to waste my coverage on that.
Fast forward to two years later, my toddlers got into the arts and craft drawer, got paint all over the sectional. I called to file a claim and told it wasn't covered because it was caused by a toddler, and that it is not considered accidental; before that, another employee told me it wasn't covered because it was too much paint. So they make up reason for rejecting warranty claims as they go, whatever it takes to not take responsibility and do what their extended warranty promises.
Icing on the cake I was told that my warranty was now void due to the paint incident (even though I still had 3 years left), so I asked for a refund for my extended warranty since I never used it (they advertise that if you don't use the warranty that you get back your money). I was told that was not an option and had to wait the full five years.
I purchased everything in my house from the brick and the one-time in 15 years as a loyal customer, I file one claim get treated like this. I honestly gave them more trust and loyalty than they deserve.
The same week this was going on, I purchased two couches because I was looking for something different for my other living room and cancelled that order within days after this happened; I will never spend a dime there again.
I hired a company to clean my sectional, and it was good as new, to think it was that simple to fix the issue, and they didn't even bother to try.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer's satisfaction.
The Brick - Kobe sofa & loveseat (blue)
As a retired senior citizen, I visited The Brick on January 25th, 2021, to purchase the Kobe sofa, loveseat and chair in the color blue. After some negotiating, we agreed on a price, $6, 440.35. Initially, the salesperson was quoting me 7 grand. I refused, knowing that price was too ridiculously expensive. My complaint, the seating cushion area on right side of sofa is sunken in compared to the left which is firm. The same issue as with the loveseat. February 17, 2021 assessment +inspection by Carl * he agreed it was sunken in (soft and lopsided) but he made the report documenting it was from "normal wear and tear". This is false. I can understand if it was a 300 lb person sitting there but I'm no more than 152lbs. If we had the furniture for 6- one year maybe wear and tear but we are talking about a short period of 3 weeks and less. The Brick called today Monday, April 12th, 2021. Saying they will not be accommodating or honouring our paid warranty of $569.99, and will only offer us a different selection of furniture. I refuse to do a re-selection based on my negative experience with them. I am unhappy as a consumer. I am requesting my 6, 440.35 returned to me immediately. That is a lot of money my retirement money to be spent on defective furniture not caused by me the consumer. The condition of these furniture pieces do not match the money I paid for them. I want quality furniture not this lopsided sunken squishy seating, I am requesting a full refund, thank you. Pictures attached *
Desired outcome: Full refund
Good morning, This is the day the Lord has made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it. (psalm 118:24)
I appreciate the prompt response and I’ll happily get in touch via e-mail . Hopefully, reach an amicable satisfactory agreement in resolving this matter. Praise God~
I am sorry about your experience but know you are not alone. I have been a loyal customer for many years, never made a claim on anything (bought all the furniture in my house from the brick).
I think the Brick got too comfortable filing their pockets with money from honest, hardworking people with no repercussions.
I only wish I had stopped and spent a few minutes researching the company before making my purchases.
The Brick - Mattress bought at the Brick on ST. James
I bought a mattress from the brick on St James in Winnipeg. I went to another city as I was having trouble getting a bed here to fit my needs. Salesman Joe Gergulich would not leave us alone and eventually I was settling on two mattresses. Joe seemed more eager to speak to my boyfriend on his thought on the bed not mine, even though it's just for me. Convinced my to buy their terrible mattress protector and said I could exchange mattress if it did not fit my needs. This mattress is terrible feels like it was used before I used it. I have emailed a few times with followed up with no response from the salesman who gave me his card and said to contact him. Joe Gergulich. Do not buy anything from the brick. It is a scam. I will never ever shop there again. I will be posting my grievances all over my social media pages, websites and everyone I can tell in my small city... Most who travel to city for furniture, etc.
Desired outcome: I demand the new bed I was advised I could have when purchasing the mattress protector. Salesman kept saying if it doesnt work we can find you a new one and pay the difference.
The Brick - warranty for sectional
Bought a sectional in 2018 that obviously did not have a proper stain guard on it as it stains extremely easily. Went to the brick to buy stain remover and the sales woman said they could remove the stains because it's on warranty. After two months of little to no response from the brick they came back and said because there is more than just one stain they would not do anything. I have spent about 10000 on furniture from them in four years and they have no customer loyalty. Don't bother getting a warranty on anything there as they don't stand behind warranties and are horrible at customer service.
The Brick - 062147a1040001
On June 21, 2014, we purchased $10, 000 worth or furniture and electronics from the store. Delivery was to be made in July. While awaiting delivery, the brick sold a part of our sectional that was already paid for and said they needed to order us a new one in. This was not alright as we had paid for it and had to take another day off of work to have the piece delivered when they ordered the new one. Further, they sent us broken tables, which also had to be replaced.
I phone last July about the $333 warranty for the tv as we were to get a store credit if not used. The associate I spoke to stated that it was a 5 year warranty and to phone back next summer. I waited and phoned in on July 3rd to find out how I could use this credit. The female associate was quite rude and advised that the warranty on the furniture was 5 years, but the tv was 4. Further, that as I did not use the credit within 3 months, it is voided. I explained my situation and she stated that it was too bad. I requested a call from a manager and after taking my information, the associate hung up.
I phoned back on July 5th, as I had not heard back and requested to speak to a manager. I received a call back later that night from a supervisor Sanjeet. I explained my situation and that, though not his fault, that an associate specifically told me that I had to wait another year for the credit and that it was not ok, that I was going to lose out on it. He stated that if I make a large purchase, that he would "take care of me" but added that any discount he gave would not be close to the $333 credit. I requested to speak to the operations manager and was assured that I would get a call back by Tuesday the 9th. I never did.
I am losing a credit for a warranty I paid for and followed up with. I am very disappointed. The associate in 2018 made a mistake by reading the furniture warranty instead of the electronic warranty, but I should not be faulted. Please advise how I can receive my $333 credit.
