Canadian Tire - Cranbrook BC Canadian Tire Auto department cost and customer service from Marilyn

I am very disappointed in the customer service from the Canadian Tire auto department in Cranbrook BC that I received when I called in about the invoice and my daughter’s customer service who took her car in for an air conditioner recharge on Wednesday July 26th.

Fact – the car was not in there for longer than 1.5 hours and she was charged for 2 hours.

Marilyn has come up with the extra 67.50 for the work of putting the air filter in but that was clearly already included in the 1.5 hours, which she thinks is acceptable, but it is not. Your mechanic changed the air filter in that ½ hour it should be the 67.50 plus the air filter part should it not? and if it’s not then that is a rip off.

I understand the air filter and the 1.5 hours to check it over, clean and change the filter, make sure it was blowing cool air as it wasn’t longer than 1.5 to do all the work – even though she still should have been called to confirm this is what she wanted since it wasn’t a recharge anymore and not just to go ahead with it. So, after the fact when Marilyn says she explained it to her, after Emma called them back it’s a little too late when they already did the work and in Marilyn mind this is acceptable, and again it is not.

Total amount of bill is $355.36 Inv [protected] Emma Andrews 26 July 2003

270 – Labor ** 135/hr x 2 hours ***Clearly not 1.5 hours

22.99 – part

24.30 – other – would not answer what that was for?

15.86 – GST

22.21 – PST

Bill should be

22.99 - parts

202.50 – labour (135/hr plus 67.50 ½ hr)

24.30 - other

249.79 total

29.97 taxes

Grand total 279.76

Refund 75.59 to make it right

Also the fact the first quote is double than what everyone else charges in town $542 from you Canadian Tire – maybe phone around - McGibbon’s total that my husband was in with his Cadillac Truck he was only charge a total of $235, literally less than a month prior and I can provide the bill this included the recharge and checking for leaks. The Subaru dealership which I just called does the exact same thing for 201.69 plus tax…. why are you so much more? Infact when Emma called us about the rate, I told her to call Canadian tire back and cancel which she did but then the car was already in, which isn’t the issue here.

Marylin does not want to do anything to make it right and tells me she is the manager, and it doesn’t matter if I put in a formal complaint as it will just come back to her, and she will explain it – just kept repeating it was all good and she has done nothing wrong in the invoice and will not refund anything. It took me 4 times to get the manager of the store before she would give it to me and then he was still only told it was a Ben, but he was on holiday.

If she is the Manager, she needs a lesson in customer service and should be trying to make it right, instead of arguing with the customer especially when we are not asking for a full refund, but it didn’t clearly matter when trying to explain to her that there must be a mistake and should only be paying for what was actual done and nothing extra.

Desired outcome: The only way to make it right is refund the 75.69 and Marilyn needs to be talked to on how you want her to represent your store!
