On October 31, 2021, 2:40 pm, I was at Dollarama [protected] Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T5K 0G6) and witnessed an Indigenous man enter the store and be stopped by a security man. Security asked him to turn out his pockets! He had only just entered the store. The man had an apple in his pocket. The security man should GET OUT and the man left. Although Dollarama is a business who can choose who enters, there was no lawful reason to check him or evict him from the store other than race. I talked to the man outside and he was very upset, said it happens all the time at Dollarama - they either refuse him entry or follow him around the store. Blatant racial profiling by staff.
