I was admitted at Botshilu Private Hospital in November 2025 and was treated by a specialist DR for 9 days.
I have a hospital plan policy from a bank that I am trying to claim from, and one of the required documents for a successful claim is a MEDICAL REPORT by the treating specialist.
I contacted the DR's rooms for the report and the receptionist tells me that I must pay a fee of R1000 first because I want to take the report to a third party I must pay a fee first.
The receptionist was very rude and made me feel like I am doing a criminal act by claiming from my policy, that I went to the bank and took out. The same policy that I am paying monthly premiums for.
Now, I can't conclude my claim as I dont have a medical report due to a R1000 fee which I really don't understand what it is for, and not prepared to pay.
Feeling frustrated. Why do we have to pay for policies that we can't even claim from just because of service providers that are inconsiderate.
Country of complaint: South Africa
Desired outcome: Hello peter, please intervene. These DRs treats us like trash. They are nice when you are sick and they milk your medical aid, but the moment they are done with you, everything thereafter is money and they become insensitive.
