Banner Health Cost of CT-scan

I recently had to have a CT-scan done on my mother.

On the NHS in England it is free, if we were willing to wait six weeks.

We didn't have six weeks, so I paid to go privately in the UK. The cost was 395 GBP (478 USD) and we got it done in two days.

I didn't have to pay a biweekly insurance premium either.

Looking at your prices on your website:

It is more cost effective, to drop jet fuel to cross the Atlantic, hire a care and pay for a hotel, than to get it done in Tucson Arizona, 30 minutes from where I live in Sahuarita.

What is Banner medical going to do, to provide the same level of care, at a price more competitive with other first world countries?

Desired outcome: An internationally competitive price structure, based on patients needs, rather than greed.

Banner Health Transportation service

I am a patient with Banner Medicare Advantage. I scheduled transportation with Banner to and from my home to a surgery center for a procedure on Monday February 6, 2023. My confirmation # was QZNDOA4B. I was told that I would be picked up at my home 9624 E. Paseo San Bernardo Tucson, AZ 85747 @ 11;55 AM and transported to 7445 E. Tanque Verde Road Tucson, AZ 85715 for my 12:45 PM appointment. At 11;59 I received a phone call from Jared that he was mot going to be able to give me a ride because he was overbooked!

I explained to him that this appointment was scheduled 2 months in advance and I did not have another ride. He said that he could not do anything about it. I had to call the facility to see if they would still do my procedure if I found a another form of transportation but would be late, the agreed and I paid a friend $ 20.00 to drive me. I was told It had to someone I know and not a taxi or ride service.

After my procedure I called for a ride and was told it would be 1 1/2 hours before I would be picked up. When I was finally picked up the driver Jared was not friendly and complained he had to drive all the from Nogales to pick me up! He played loud music the entire way and the van was filthy inside!

I was so disappointed with this service!

Desired outcome: I would appreciate a response and assurance if I were to use this service in the future I would have an entirely different experienceRegards,James Jones213-275-716jim.e.[protected]@gmail.com

Banner Health Drugs copay cost after er visit

I was given ear drops for a severe ear infection. The doctor gave it to me freely and I wasn't expecting to pay for it. Then the insurance company indicated in an EOB that they paid on it. The price of the medication was $945.30 and I could actually get it from Amazon Pharmacy for $189.23. I feel Banner over charged for the medication for one and also they reneged on giving it to me for free. I have a witness who was there with me to confirm it was freely given to me. The Doctor was John Robert Egbert, DO.

Desired outcome: Accept what the insurance paid, $567.18 and write off the $378.12 that you claim I owe you.

Banner Health Banner aetna response to lack of providers

I am the legal guardian of my grandson. He is on Banner Aetna through the Health care exchange system. He is under 18. He requires ADHD evaluation as agreed upon by his B-A pediatrician on 1/17/23. I was given a referral (I know he does not need a referral, but I had called several practices and groups with a psychiatrist previously with no success and hoped his pediatrician could make a referral that would be successful I did receive one referral to an apparent provider that asked me to provide a payment of 800 dollars before taking my grandsons information or making an appointment! I declined and called B-A. They agreed that this request was not appropriate, and promised to look into it. I agreed to call other providers on their patient page again. I called every psychiatrist and group with a psychiatrist. I heard that they didn't treat under 18, they didn't treat people with private insurance, or they had no appointments open. I then called B-A "concierge" 4 times. I was disconnected twice, passed around 2 times to as many as 4 different "concierges". I explained repeatedly that I had received the 800.00 request which invalidated that referral, and had no luck with the other providers on the website. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told they were busy. I asked for the supervisors name and number as I explained that their concierges were of no help. I was denied this information as it is "against HIPPA". I replied that it was not against HIPPA, but was again denied. I asked for the concierges name and number, but was again told that this was against policy. I was assured that the concierge had my information and that she would personally assure that a supervisor called me the same day.

No call has been received. I searched their website and happened upon their telehealth page. I called a provider and have a virtual appointment now set for my grandson.

This is not the optimal outcome I had hoped for, but at least there is now some movement on his need.

FYI: I received a text message today from the provider that had asked for 800.00, asking me to make an appointment! It is obvious that B-A did not investigate this occurrence. I was clear to them that I am absolutely sure of my interaction with this provider, and was assured that they would investigate.

Desired outcome: This is not an unusual request. Acknowledgement of my concern and some other options to meet my grandsons needs if the the telehelath option is not adequate.

Banner Health PET / CT scheduling / authorization

On Jan 17 called and schedule a PET/CT for tumor localiz from base skull to mid thigh after prostate cancer very high risk diagnosis. Appointment made for 26 Jan at 1030 am. Scheduler, Jennifer, gave a list of instructions but no information provided on insurance authorizations process. On Monday, 25th office called to request appointment to be pushed to 1130, which agreed to. Received a confirmation text message on Tuesday 26th. Wednesday morning at 822 AM received text stating the appointment had been canceled due to insurance authorization not received. Called office was told they would not keep the appointment while I called the insurance company to find out what the holdup was. Told they wouldn’t reschedule me without an authorization.

Called the insurance company and was told authorization was not submitted until January 20 and turnaround time was 3 to 5 business days. The authorization was not requested urgent to ensure authorization was received prior to the appointment which was less than 5 business days.

Calling scheduling spoke with manager, Leanne, who told me there was nothing that she could do because it was protocol to cancel the appointment if authorization was not received the day before the appointment. And it was authorization department who handled this. But would route back to scheduling once authorization was received. This was not communicated when the schedule of appointment, or when they called to reschedule the appointment for a later time for facilities convenience, or did anyone reach out by to communicate prior to the cancellation. Now I can’t get scheduled until the authorization comes back and soonest availability is over a week out. Now I can’t be seen by the oncologist because the scan will not be done in time for the appointment. The manager showed no empathy or compassion or priority for patient care. Her only response was its protocol we can’t help you, you have to talk to authorizations.

I arrived at 2pm for my appointment, called in to exam room at 2;10. Sat in gown 35 minutes, when assistant peeked in to say they hadn’t forgot about me, I politely responded that I was prepared to sit another 15 minutes than I would have to leave. Banner Health Prescription writing

On 1-9-23 I requested a prescription for diabetic test strips from my primary's office at 22nd St & Pantano, Tucson, AZ.
I was notified the same day it was done by that office.
Fry's Pharmacy at 22 and Harrison, Tucson, contacted me and I went in to store.

I was informed they needed my insurance info. AND the Rx did NOT have a diagnosis code from Medicare to cover said test strips.
Fry's said they contacted your location on 1/9, 1/10, 1/11, 1/12/23. NO ANSWER!

I called and told it would be done today. Also, told the Complaint Person from this particular location would contact me today (they were supposedly in a meeting). It's been about 2 hours and they are supposed to call me TODAY. Any bets I won't hear from them today?

Desired outcome: 1. DR. learn to write a Rx correctly the FIRST TIME.2. Failing #1, RESPOND when add'l info requested. DO NOT IGNORE for 4 DAYS. More people involved = higher COST TO BANNER!)3. Failing 1 & 2, reprimands, then FIRED!

Banner Health Emergency room

I took my son to the emergency following a head injury today, 1/10/23. The medical staff was amazing. Prompt, kind, competent.

Registration staff: awful. The nurses called four times requesting registration assistance so we could pay and leave with no response. The nurse finally walked us out to the registration desk where there were 5 employees crowded into a small area. The woman said she had my insurance information already and said that it told her I was required to pay $700. I showed her my benefits detail which indicated a $200 copay for ER visits and a max per year out of pocket for an individual of $500. Asked where the $700 was coming from? She said she didn't know; it was just what 'it' told her. I paid, not knowing I had any other choice. I called Banner Aetna, my insurer, who confirmed I was correct and should have only paid $200. They further informed me I was not required to pay anything.

Desired outcome: Reimbursement of $500 immediately. Who told the Banner registration person that I owed $700. If no one, procedures need to change so the registration person is not providing intentionally false information to customer, overcharging them.

With exacerbated breathing. Was examined by Triage and made aware I had two treatments of abuterol in last 3 hours. They administers ekg, blood work and chest X-ray determined I had RSVand would at some point be admitted to hospital. They gave me two more treatments of albuterol and moved me to infected area and left. 45 minutes later I started having excruciating chest pain, sweating and the need to relieve myself gasping for air. I tried at least 15 times to summon someone by the nurses call button and after no response I tried to call out saying help me help no one came. I tried getting out of bed fell once then proceeded out of the room and fell again in hallway of my room crawling and gasping for air I bruised my knee that has splinters in it and bruised my left thigh area. Finally someone in blue clothing called out yo me while I was laying on the floor and asked if I needed help as I was telling her help me she said wait I have to go get someone. Another nurse appeared and picked me up took me back to my my room telling me they were short handed and the reason why I fell was the lack of oxygen Tay my levels had dropped into the 80's she asked me if I needed an EKG because I was holding my chest. They never did an EKG, oxygen or check my head for trauma that I hit. No X-rays or check to see if I was bleeding from the head. No DR ever came to examine me. I recall three nurses standing at my bedside but I must have blacked out because the next thing I knew someone was taking me to a bother floor for admittance.. I'm still having lots of pain in my knee and thigh icing it every day and headaches from the fall. Not to mention nightmares and anxiety from the ordeal. I expect someone to call me to settle t hi s for pain and suffering and therapy on my knee. This will be escalated to a law office by Friday. If no one responds..

Desired outcome: Compensation

Banner Health Hospital security

I was verbally confronted by your "Do Gooder" women in the lobby because I wouldn't wear a mask. One of them threatened me with calling the police. When I got to the lobby of my doctors office, None, let me repeat that "NONE" of the hospital workers were wearing masks and many of the patients weren't wearing them. I checked in and found a seat. Enter two wannabe cop, security guards, since not wearing a mask is an issue of national security, and he confronts me that I was "RUDE" to Doris the greeter in the lobby. He proceeds with this diatribe of hypocrisy about him wearing a mask and I'm not. I mentioned if you didn't wear a mask you'd probably get fired. Let's pause here and discuss why these pretend policeman are all sporting beards? I would think clean shaven would present a more professional image. Then amidst this heated discussion of why I must leave the hospital for not wearing a mask a 3rd pretend cops shows up with a snarling drooling dog wearing a muzzle. All this for not wearing a mask. Then the supervisor shows up and she's not wearing one. I finally said this isn't worth it and began to leave, followed by Dog Boy, Super Cop, and this other wannabe. Once at the elevators "Super Cop" whips out his cell phone and thrusts it in my face to take a picture, I automatically hold up my hand to divert his advance and he his "He tried to assault me lets take him to the floor" at which point all 3 of these cops began assaulting me. I'm 70 years old. Is this your normal operating procedure for patients? Law suits for assault might arise from this aside from the fact one of your doctors has lost a patient and all your other hypocrites who refuse to wear a mask remain nameless.

Desired outcome: Thats up to you. I'll have to consult my attorney or you could fire all your wannabe cops involved so this doesn't happen to another one of your patients

Banner Health Nursing staff and doctor attention

I was admitted recently as a "direct admit" from my doctor. First I waited over 12 hours for the hospital to call me with a bed ready, I finally went to.the ER because my situation was urgent. The ER staff was great. However, once I got on the floor things changed instantly. I waited over 1.5 hours once in my room before anyone came to even see me. After leaving for a procedure, needing to be reconnected to my IV and needing meds, I waited over 2 hours after I asked the nurse to come in! They were rude and unconcerned. My overnight nurse was good, but the day nurse was horrible. Her name was Candi and I was in room B218. She was rude, uncaring, unresponsive and literally kicked me out the minute the discharge order came in even though I explained my ride couldn't get there for a few more hours. She didn't explain my discharge orders or what to do next, just handed an envelope and said leave please. I was not a disruptive patient and just stayed to myself my entire time. Her demeanor was like I was bothering her the entire time.

Desired outcome: Nurse should be counseled on proper patient interactions. She was very rude!

Banner Health treatment at Banner imaging

I went in on March 30th 2022 for a female ultra scan. I was in the room with tect. Fulling clothed. Standing there waiting for instructions. She said get up on the table. I was a little puzzled by this since I have have other exam. She was at the end so no way to get up there, Let me add I am 76 yrs old, over weight, 5 3 and have a very bad back. I began trying to get up, she then turns and said you have to get up, So I started to jump as much as possible. Finally grabbing the other side of table and pulled my self up. She now tells me to pull my bottoms down? so she does the outside. I thought'd maybe ultra sound was so advanced now we were done. She now tells me to get down and remove my bottoms and throws one of those sheets at me. She returms sits at the end of the table, And seemed annoyed that I again having trouble getting up on the table. The constant banging my hip on the edge made it start to hurt. I set in my car for a few minutes trying to pull my self when I left. Well it is 6 months later and I have tried heat, cold pack, resting a lot. Nothing is helping this hip pain.

Banner Health My phone mumber

Last April I discovered Banner Health has two different phone numbers for me. They put in a request to fix that. Monday, I called scheduling to change an appointment date. Today they said they tried calling me back, but no one answered. How do I get Banner to update all of its data bases to have my current phone number?

From Banner Website - "Your complaint appears to be too short and it will unlikely be resolved and/or attract any attention."... WHAT?

Banner Health Charged almost double what my bill was

June 2021 my daughter had an EEG performed due to epilepsy and wanted to take her off the medicine as it was for absent seizures which normally they grow out of. Spoke with Banner and gave her all our information and stated we needed the exact total out of pocket as we needed to take out a loan. This was all completed via phone call. Take her in 2 weeks later and get the service done and pay the $836 I owed. Now a year later they sent a bill for $581 more. I have been dealing with several employees for weeks now regarding this. The second phone conversation the employee stated it looks like your insurance paid more so you have a refund coming back. Checked the portal 2 weeks later and still said I owed the money. Called back again and employee stated no what happened is they quoted without going through insurance. Now today I spoke with another employee stating I signed a paper saying that was just an estimate. Not sure how I signed that over the phone… she said I signed at time of the EEG. Now I’m waiting for another call and if needed am going all the way to the top with this. Banner made the mistake not me!

Banner Health incorrectly applying co pays

I had a doctor office visit on Nov 5, 2021. I paid my $25.00 copay in the office that day as it states under Banner Aetna plan. I have bank statement to prove it. Banner billing took my "copay" payment and applied it to another account balance. I have complained to them over the phone. I have another account which is under a $130.80 reoccurring debit withdraw under the agreement of that bill. So now they are asking me for another $25.00 to pay that copay again. Under my plan, I only pay $25 for office visits. They should not use it for another balance then make me pay it twice. This is ridiculous. I also don't ever get a bill other than the email that reminds me of the monthly payment of 130.80.

Desired outcome: I would like that matter addressed and resolved. Copays should only apply to office visit not another account. I also expect any bill be sent electronically to my email so it can be paid and addressed accordingly

Banner Health My husband's surgery

Last July, my husband was rushed to Banner Dobson with stroke symptoms. He was immediately admitted. They found his strokes had resolved, but that he had a 95% blockage of his artery. While he was there for days waiting for surgery, we didn't ask for anything because the nurses were busy with people worse off than my husband. After cleaning out the artery, he was kept in ICU overnight. You can't imagine how shocked I was when I got home and realized they sent him home with no pain medication! My husband has never abused drugs in his life. I wrote a Google review hoping to get an answer as to how this happened. The surgeon himself said he'd be needing pain medication, told him no driving or heavy lifting etc. My husband doesn't like to complain but I wouldn't do this to a dog let alone a human being. I noticed everyone else on Google got replies from customer service but me! I don't understand how a mistake like this could happen in this country. To send someone home without pain medication is ridiculous and dangerous.

My husband is Mark W. Lee, dob 5/14/1954, address 3617 E. Thunderhill Place, Phoenix, AZ 85044. Email [protected]@gmail.com.

Desired outcome: I want to know why my husband was treated so badly. We deserve an apology for being treated this way. No one deserves what my husband went through.

Banner Health Surgery released with no meds...again

My name is Norman Brown and received surgery on 06/22/2022 and was released the same day... with no meds again.

The surgery went well, Dr Toth is an awesome surgeon, the entire

nursing staff were all wonderful ... except, I had been released

after surgery with absolute no word on my medication from all the nurses etc, nobody had any idea, however my mother and girlfriend both had been asking the staff about my medication with continual answers of 'it has been taken care of' or they have no idea about them..not anybody asked seemed to care. My pharmacy is Banner family pharmacy on Detroit street in Chandler because they mail my medication's asap and was listed on ALL my documentation paperwork, I would have gladly picked them up after surgery if 'anybody' could have answered properly or even cared after my release. After two days now with no medication I now find out my meds are at desert banner pharmacy where I was for surgery, my paperwork clearly indicates the normal pharmacy. So when all the staff members continually told me, my mother and my girlfriend that it has been takin care of, when released they accompanied me to the car and watched us leave...after surgery no meds again... 2018 after spine surgery at Desert Banner the exact same incident happened and I released with no meds and wound up the same night at Baywood ER for no meds. There is a very clear problem for real patient care at Desert Banner. Now two days later no meds again! Now I have to get back to Desert Banner in the morning for my meds...there is VERY big problem with patient care at Desert Banner. I pray I do no get clots etc despite the pain suffered due to sheer ignorance...again.

Banner Health Improper Claim Submission

I am being bill for an office visit that was not properly submitted to Medicare. I pay for the best supplemental plan and never receive a bill. Banner Health submitted a claim with no diagnosis coding. The doctor called me and said he would resubmit the claim but I am still receiving a bill for this office visit. Also I will not have a doctor with whom I cannot call in directly to the office. I have already gotten a new doctor with whom I can communicate directly with the facility.

Desired outcome: Correct the improper billing.
