Auto Holidays - Chania, Crete - Airportcar rental

Good afternoon,

I wanted to report a significant issue with the rental of my car last night through Auto Holidays when I arrived at the airport in Chania, Crete, Greece.

When I arrived last night the lady at the Auto Holidays said that she refused to rent me a car because I did not have an international driver's licence and she said that it was required by Greek law.

I told her that I have rented a car recently on number of occasions and for many years in Greece and other EU countries (I live in the Netherlands and have a Canadian driver's licence) without any issue whatsoever.

After a long time of argument, she refused to give me the car even though I had a reservation and had paid in full.
This was very upsetting as I am in Crete for 2 weeks with my family (including 2 young children) and it was late at night and I had no car

I then went to Sixt in the airport (having walked back in the dark) and was given a car in five minutes and they said they are not aware of a requirement for an international driver's licence

I have now today looked closer at your regulations (including the Voucher) and the Greek law and found that the information I was given is untrue and blatantly false.
I am a lawyer and know that you need evidence of the things you allege
She was clearly making this up and for some reason trying to cause me a problem

I can't tell you how upset I am

I would like you to confirm a complete refund of the money I have paid for the car through your company and Auto Holidays.

Please confirm the return of my funds as soon as possible.

I have booked through Cartrawler before and have found your company to be excellent and reliable in its service.
I expect that you will assist me with this issue as I did not rent the car based on a "requirement" that was never disclosed to me and which from my perspective is not accurate.

I think you need to reconsider including Auto Holidays in the companies that you deal with.

The service I received from them was disgraceful.

Please get back to me as soon as possible as this issue has impacted the enjoyment of my holiday.
