BIG LOTS YUCAIPA - 34601 Yucaipa Blvd Yucaipa, California 92399.

Violation of employee rights incident on job May-August 2023.

Issue:

Regional manager Jake and manager Holly violated employee rights and executed discrimination & other Conserns as an employee. I feel like these managers are attempting to find any reason to have me terminated due to my race and being the only african american employee working at the Yucaipa Location Store #4291

Premise:

Jake - Threats of livelihood attempting to blemish my record as an action to humiliate and embarrass me in front of my peers.

Holly- Unprofessionalism and discrimination along with setting unrealistic targets to play practical jokes to humiliate (myself) the employee.

Forms of bullying in the workplace by a manager:

Verbal abuse

Shouting/swearing at an employee

Practical Jokes

Humiliation

Circulation of degrading rumors

Employee being singled out for criticism.

Setting unrealistic targets

Downplays the efforts and work of an employee

Use of embarrassing actions or language that humiliate or embarrass an employee

Conclusion & Reason:

Regional Manager Jake & Manager Holly?

Jake? Regional Manager Jake suspended Anthony Wall for supposed theft and while in the back office of the store manager claims he will “Have me escorted out of the store by police so they can put something on my record” making me feel degraded as he verbally violated me in the office. My record is free of any blemishes not even a parking ticket in my life. He knows this from my background check needed to come and work for Big Lots. This would embarrass me in front of my peers and neighbors since Yucaipa is my home, although I am a law-abiding citizen and hard-working American. Manager Jake also has accused me of stealing Tikis and giving out unauthorized discounts, but when I asked to see the proof he did violate my 6th Amendment right the right to know who your accusers are and the nature of the charges and evidence against you. He did not show me any evidence of giving out these discounts or proof of theft from the store. Another incident report has also been received to Big Lots on these grievances and can be received upon request from any corporate member or jury.

Holly? Manager Holly attempts to play a practical joke on (myself) the employee by asking an employee to chase a customer out of the store who she suspected of stealing from the store although I am hired as a stocker and not loss prevention setting an unrealistic target during my work day ( @ 2:30 PM, MAY 2023). Other concerns include an incident she was half an hour late from work taking away from me and other employee’s scheduled pay coming to the job without shoes barefoot and the left once more to go home and finished getting dressed leaving me and other employees Joe, Emily, Dirk, and myself alone and unattended in the building while we began our shift as she returned half an hour later. This is very unprofessional and also puts us and the store at risk.

This document serves as an official reporting of grievance to infraction of violation of my employee rights. This email serves as a time stamp of reporting of the incident within 24 hours of violation of my employee rights, per the references below.
