On 12/28/2021 I, Michael J Trese signed a contract with Total Home Roofing to have the roof of my home replaced. I needed the roof replaced due to dry rot I had discovered on the northwest corner of the flat deck part of my roof. Not because it was leaking. I had had no leaks for over one year prior to Total Home Roofing replacing my roof. The address of the home that I hired Total Home Roofing to replace is 2838 37th Avenue North in St. Petersburg, Florida. The sales representative for Total Home Roofing at that signing was Andrew Capabianco. The job agreed on was the total replacement of the roof, both the pitched roof and the flat deck. Also, Total Home Roofing would be replacing the dry rotted portions of any part of the roof, whether it was on the flat deck or the pitched part of the roof or both.

The total price of the job was $9,800. That price included all the roofing material, the labor, the new drip edge for the whole roof and 4 extra sheets of plywood that would be used to replace the dry rotted wood.

Before Total Home Roofing began the job, I was contacted via text message by 2 other Total Home Roofing employees. The first employee was a woman who said her name was Leah. She told me she would be supervising the project, setting the date the work would begin, and making sure the material needed to complete the job was delivered to the job in time. Leah also reported she would be a point of contact for me to answer any questions or help me with any problems that might arise. The second employee was another woman who said her name was Arielle. She also reported she would be helping to supervise the project and would a point of contact for me as well.

The actual work on the roof replacement began on 1/12/22. And I was informed by the crew foreman, Edgar, that it was also completed by the end of the day, although I did not know it had been completed until 1/13/22. That was when Edgar came to my home to do what he called the "walk-through". At that time everything looked good, and I gave Edgar a check for $10,800.

On 1/16/22 it began raining very early in the morning. When I checked for leaks, I found a severe leak through the ceiling in the center of the Northside widows in my living room. I took a video on my phone and took what measures I could to control the flow of water, but due to the leak being about 3 ft long, there was not much I could do.

I did not try to contact Edgar at that time as it was a Sunday and I figured correctly that he would not have responded. I did contact him by text message on 1/17/22. At that time, Edgar and his crew came out and tried to repair the leak by pulling up the top layer of roofing material and applying roofing tar beneath it to help it seal. I also contacted my bank to see if I could stop payment on the check due to the roof leaking. At that time the bank, Wells Fargo, reported that they had already sent the funds. They told me that due to the roof leaking, they would file a dispute and get my money back. I asked them to please do so. They did file a dispute and the money was returned to my account. I also sent a copy of the video to Edgar by text message and to Arielle Vera one of the construction supervisors via my daughter by text message and I emailed her a copy to her email address. She reported that she received both.

On 1/22/22 it rained again in the afternoon and by evening the roof continued to leak as severely as before. I took another picture of the leaking. I notified Edgar on 1/23/22 and sent him a copy of the picture by text message. He came out with his crew on 1/24/22 and they put a tarp over the roof. It rained again on 1/25/22 and the roof continued to leak. On 1/26/22 Edgar and his crew came out and added more tarps. Edgar asked me at that time to contact his immediate supervisor Jim by phone. I made 2 attempts that day, at 10:24am and again at 12:21pm. He did not answer either time, and both times I left voice messages on his voice mail leaving my phone number and asking him to call me to resolve this issue.

No attempt was made by Jim to contact me, either by phone or text message. I finally was able to contact him on 2/1/22. He sent a man named Dave out that afternoon to look at the roof and talk to me about a resolution. Dave came out and removed the tarps and left them in a pile in my backyard. He reported that the flat part of the roof that was leaking needed to be "torched" and that he would have someone out to fix it later that week.

It is now 2/8/22 and no one has contacted me or even been out to pick up the tarps. It rained 2/6/22 and the roof continues to leak and damage my ceiling, wall, and carpet in the living room. On 2/7/22 I sent another picture and text message of the leak to Jim and to Giovani the West Coast manager of Total Home Roofing. Jim sent me a replied that read "Michael Trese". I responded yes it was Michael Trese and I repeated the house address.
