I'm a former contractor. My company was Artcore Construction Inc. in San Francisco. I've been dealing with Angi/Homeadvisor/Servicemagic since day one.

I've given them tens of thousands of dollars over the years. We had a good relationship. A problem I've had with their business model has always been the inability to select individual leads. I've had so many stinkers over the years. I've had several good leads.

My business started going under around Covid time. My best friend blew his brains out. In 2022, things were falling apart. I owed them some money. I got a call from a rep ironically named Anji. She said we can make a settlement. So, I made a settlement with her. Part of the settlement was she would give me some free credit towards more leads. I was apprehensive. I told her that it would be fine, but they have to allow me to stop the leads. She told me "just text or call, and I'll take care of it." I agreed. I have her number if Angie's list cared to look into it.

The free leads were used up. (crappy leads BTW) and I texted her saying to stop. She said she'll take care of it. Well, the leads kept coming. They auto-charged my floundering account. I texted her over and over and she kept reassuring me she'll take care of it. I called. I texted many times. During this process, my dad's health was failing and my step-mother went nuts.

Some Angie's list rep called me trying to collect money. I think it was less than $300.00. I told her what was going on. I read my texts over the phone between their rep, Angie and myself. The lady I was talking to said "If she told you she was able to stop the leads, she was wrong. That's against our policy."

I told her "well, this is what YOUR rep told me...over and over and over again."

I've had this conversation with Angie's list reps, several times. Every time, they basically told me "tough [censored]. you need to pay."

I'm going through a divorce. I've been couch hopping. I find a cool place, and they dinged my credit score.

Yeah. I admit. I have been a bit stubborn. I've had a long term relationship that far precedes it current owners. These are corporate [censored]s. They don't care about service. Suree, my company went under, but it was companies like mine that helped build that corporate behemoth.

Claimed loss: Hundreds of dollars. Credit score. The possibility I might not get m new place.

Desired outcome: Wipe out the debt. Clear up the issue with the credit agencies. Maybe apologize. I won't hold my breath though.
