I started out believing the salesperson when we got our offer and signed the contract. I even stated we just needed a few thousand more to break even and put an offer on our new home. They agreed, and all was good. He said the check will be there in a couple of weeks. 4 days before the so-called closing day, we finally got a call back after several days of leaving messages and voicemails that they had to push out the closing until the contractor could come do an inspection. No call back for several days, then on closing day, we said we need a call back or we will cancel now. He finally called back at the end of the day, only to tell us the contractor looked at photos and bid much higher than they thought, and had to offer us $30,000 LESS than the original contract agreement! We had to cancel the entire deal and lost the home we put an offer on and our deposit for the new home! They robbed us of 3 weeks of our life, our new home and thousands of dollars! Thank you very much for allowing us to be able to warn others. Do not let them steal from you top! Or you end up homeless because you had no warning that they work this way. If they told us while we were on vacation, this would delay this so-called inspection, we would have arranged to have someone let them in! They didn't even do the inspection in the end anyway to low-ball us! Bait and switch! Beware! & do not sign contract without a nonrefundable deposit from them!
Claimed loss: $3,000 and a new home
Desired outcome: Refund for lost deposit
