This EXACT same thing just happened to me this week. My American Gold Reserve rep Matt hung up on me when I called to say he lied to me about the $3695 extra coin being a one ounce coin because I specifically asked if it was a one ounce coin. They sent a 1/4 ounce. The supervisor hung up on me too.

I bought some gold coins from AGR after seeing them advertised in Via Magazine. The salesman, Andy Harper, suggested I buy more expensive coins for $1795 instead of the ones I originally asked about. I thought they were close to 1 ounce because of the price, but when I got them, they were only 1/4 ounce and much smaller than I thought. I found out that other companies were selling them for only $550! I called Andy the next day to return them for a refund, but he said he would check if it was possible and never got back to me. I left several messages and even threatened to complain to the ComplaintsBoard.com, but he still hasn't responded."
I've filed a dispute with the credit card company I bought the "upsell" $3695 coin with. The card I used for the $1750 said since I did get the coins even though I have to return them supposedly to get a refund for the "upsell one-ounce that turned out to be a quarter-ounce" coin a dispute wouldn't be found in my favor.
Claimed loss: Have to give up the 5 .10/ounce coins I purchased from the ad because of their "upsell" item.
Desired outcome: Return the "upsell" one-ounce coin item on their dime.
