Worst experience I have ever had trying to buy anything period. We had a appointment to pick up our puppy we put a deposit on, within 24 hours of that time this lady calls me and says one of the other puppy's she has in the kennel had a " blood sugar drop" and when I was skeptical she told me I knew nothing about dogs and refused to give us the puppy and made it nearly impossible to pick up the puppy the next two weeks so I just asked for my money back and she refused even though she wouldn't let us get the puppy. So now I'm out 440 dollars. Don't waste your time on her, go rescue instead!
puppy mill broker
I purchased my puppy two months ago. According to the listing on the Alabama Toys and Teacups website, the female puppy was a Morkie whose dam was a Maltese who weighed 5 pounds and sire was a Yorkie who weighed 3.5 pounds and that this puppy would weigh 3.5 to 5 pounds when full grown. I was not allowed to see the puppy or her parents prior to the day I picked her up. This appeared to be a legitimate breeder who raises these puppies with love in her home. I was taken aback when I received no registration papers or vet records when I picked her up at the "storefront". I had already paid her $800 plus $88 for "handling fee?". The next day I took my puppy to my veterinarian for a check up and she weighed 3 pounds, eight ounces. He estimated her adult weight to be 16-18 pounds and said she had been misrepresented by the "breeder". She is now 4 1/2 months old and weighs 8 pounds. She has thin wiry hair and long legs. She looks nothing like a Morkie. These puppies are bought from puppy mills and resold by Merry Melton Daniels at Alabama Toys and Teacups under false pretenses. I would never knowingly support a puppy mill! Please understand, I love my puppy very much but I would never have paid $888 for a puppy of unknown lineage.
That is because the parents are at the puppy mills and are not the size or breed that she presents in her ad. My "3 1/2 to 5 lb" puppy now weighs 15 lbs. She buys them cheap and sells them for very high prices.
To clarify my post...I NEVER saw my puppy's parents. My puppy was the only dog at the "Boutique" when I picked her up.
Hi! I purchased a toy poodle from Alabama Toys and Teacup Boutique. Merry Melton Daniel’s refused to give me ownership papers for my poodle. She stated I would have to pay $2,000 in order to receive breeding rights/papers. I paid $1000.00 (sale price) for my poodle, but she said, I have to pay $2,000.00 as if I paid $2,500.00 (full price) for poodle. The reason for such a higher price is AKC will charge her more money for the papers. I told her I am not a breeder and I am going to pay for her to be spayed. She still refused to provide me with papers even with proof of her being spayed. She then stated, AKC will allow limited ownership but CKC will not. Remind you, the day of pickup she stated, she’s registered with AKC. However, today 1/30/23 she said she’s registered with CKC. I called AKC AND CKC and both told me that, they do offer limited papers for proof of ownership ONLY. I have not seen pictures of parents. I truly believe that she does purchase her dogs from puppy mills which is not acceptable! I do not recommend anyone to purchase their fur babies from ALABAMA TOYS AND TEACUP BOUTIQUE this company is a SCAM!
Same here. I purchased what I was told was a teacup puddle who will weigh no more than 5 lbs full grown. He is indeed a poodle but he weighs between 6-8. Clearly this isn't a teacup. You spend so much money and expect to get what your paying for. Never again!
I was not allowed to see the parents either! Merry stated that she could not allow germs to get to her puppies and make them sick.
scam
I thought I was purchasing a yorkie! But after I got the puppy home it started resembling their chorkie's they have advertised/sold. I called to inquire as to why and was given some silliness about the dogs snout being short and long and told that I should have did my "own research" on the types of dogs noses whe I fact I did and have friends and neighbors with yorkies which is one of the reason I wanted to purchase one for my daughters christmas gift. I'm a soldier in the is army and this christmas was bittersweet due to the fact I was deployed to iraq for 2 christmas's and my daughter is just 5 yrs old and my mother had a severe stroke this year right before christmas. The seller, merry told me they couldn't take the dog back unless I bring him back from virginian where I reside back to alabama, pay for it myself along with bringing an exam showing the puppy is healthy! I wished I had done a more thorough research as. Merry stated I should have, but with a fine tooth comb to come across the many complaints and negative reviews that i've found this far. I'd never have invested my money nor my time in this type of unprofessionalism, it's very unacceptable to take people hard earned money especially around the holidays. I am going to file a complaint with the bbb as well. This is totally unacceptable and needs to cease immediately. They are offering a in store credit but I do not want anything further from this place except my money back that i've earned protecting and serving my country! Shame on you!

I would not buy a dog from her either. Their not raised in play pens. There are actually raised in Kennels with no love . They are not potty trade, she has other dog breads who do all the work for her and her dogs will never be tiny . You will never get a tiny dog from her. The dogs are raised in Kennels or pins just specifically breed. That how the dog live their whole entire life stuck in Kennels and pins. The dogs they are breeding is way of 5 pounds and will weigh more than 12 pounds. If I can't see the puppy, before you buy them and it parents of the dog. Then that sounds fishy right there. Trust me if you got to see the parents they would weigh 12+ pounds and see there is no way the puppy will be little. False advertising. Which makes a lot of dissppointmant. She does not raise the dogs and that's why when you see the puppy papers with her name not on it, that's way. Could you belive a dog is living just specifically to be breed it's while entire life with no love. Very sad. All of her dog will grown up to be big and are more than likely to have something wrong with them. Not a good reputable breeder. All she does is take pictures to sale them and her breads do all the dirty work. She never see the dog until she takes pictures at all. She never thanks her breeds for the hard work they do. She just takes all the credit and really her breeders do not even get any and by the way her Manger is Josh her husband. Please think, before decided to buy a dog from her.

neglectful dog breeer
I purchased a Chihuahua puppy from Alabama Toys and Teacups this Fall. Took it for a well puppy checkup to a local Vet who failed to do a thorough checkup and missed her illness within 24 hours of purchase. Less than 1 week after I purchased the puppy, it became very sick and refused to eat. . Then took her to my regular Vet and discovered that the puppy had a severe coccidia infestation. She was in the Vet hospital for over 1 week, had lost 1/2 of her blood volume, was severely anemic and had to have a blood transfusion. They did not believe she would live, but she did with their help. My registration papers also never came. Breeder had to be called for them. Papers arrived for another breeder from a different city than breeder I purchased puppy from - papers were signed not by breeder listed, but from breeder from whom I purchased. Birth dates do not match on CKC papers and the puppy packet I was given. Beginning to think something very "funny" is going on. I don't think I would buy a pet rock from this breeder.

We purchased a teacup poodle from this breeder over 10 years ago and paid $600 for him (we named him Nash). At 7 months old we began noticing that he was having problems standing up. My son-in-law is a vet and after many extensive tests, he found that Nash had a degenerative spine issue that was inoperable and untreatable.
At 8 months old we had to have him put to sleep...it was SO SAD! Nash had become a very close member of our family and we still miss him to this day!
We tried many different ways to contact the breeder, but she avoided all phone calls and correspondence. We finally contacted the local Police Dept in Arab, AL and they went to see her, only to learn that she had moved with no forwarding address. We never did receive our refund OR another puppy...
I am so sorry to hear about your puppy. All our puppies come with a one year genetic health warranty and we work close with all our new puppy families. Are you sure you have the correct breeder because we are in the same location and have had no email or contact with anyone having a sick puppy. Our contact info (phone/email/place of business address) [protected] address: 621 north Brindlee mountain parkway listed on our website and Google maps and has not changed. We have been at this located for over 10years and had the same email and phone number for over 10years. Feel free to contact me today [protected]. We look forward to talking with you. Thanks.
I purchased my Pom from Merry Melton in the fall of 2017. My pup has been healthy, happy, and beautiful. He's [censored] crazy and is a few pounds over the estimated weight, but I realize that when purchasing a living, breathing animal that you cannot give an exact weight or guarantee their personality/demeanor. There are many factors that cannot be accounted for. Any reasonably intelligent person should understand that. Anyway, I had a great experience with Alabama Toys & Teacups and wouldn't trade my Pickles for anything. You're purchasing a living thing, not a couch that has exact dimensions and weight. If you don't understand that, then maybe dog ownership isn't for you.
I think any reasonably intelligent person has the right to be upset when the dog they purchased is twice the weight they were told to expect.
I purchased a shih tzu in May of 2017. The listing stated that the parents were 4 and 6 lbs. I wanted a 5 lb or smaller dog. My dog is 16 wks and 4.9 lbs. charting in the 10 lb range. I paid a lot of money to be misled. Shame on me for not investigating this broker further, and shame on her for misrepresenting her business and puppies.
I purchased my baby back in 2012 from al toys & teacups. he weighs about 5 pounds full grown and he is by far the best dog I could ever ask for. I love him to pieces and like I said, he is my baby. everyone who meets him loves him and wants a dog just like him. he is a "teacup" chihuahua (weighs 5 pounds so I am not 100% sure about him being a teacup but I also dont care!) and he is perfect! I was actually looking at the male chihuahuas that are currently available and fell in love with one, farley
I paid $600 in may for a toy morkie. merry stated he would stay between 5-7 lbs. he is 4 1/2 months old and already weighs 10 lbs. he is adorable and we love him very much! the name "toys and teacups" is misleading because from all the reviews i've read and with my own experience, none of their dogs are actually toys or teacups as they all average from 10-15 lbs when they're grown! if you want a teacup or small dog, do not purchase from alabama toys and teacups!
I purchased a chihuahua puppy from Alabama Toys and Teacups and upon taking it to the Vet, I was told that he was developmentally challenged. His teeth were not developing and he had only one ball and several other things of interest. I also had asked about paying the large sum for him and not getting any registration papers. After asking several times, I was sent the CKC numbers of his presumed parents. He is 26 weeks old now and still has not developed teeth. I was told by my Vet that it was bad breeding. He actually does not look like a chihuahua at all, and not sure he is, but I do love him although he is not what I had anticipated getting. I did tell Merry that my Vet told me that the breeding was not good and that maybe she should not purchase from that breeder again, but she said she had never had trouble with the breeder before. Would not purchase from again.
Experienced similar situation, specifically wanted a teacup, found a Morkie, expected weight 5 lbs. After 3 years the dog is 18 lbs & aggressive but my husband is very attached to her. Sad Merry Melton is in this business taking people's hard earned money who want fur babies.
I work for an animal rescue organization. we just received a desperate plea from someone who purchased their toy dog from alabama's toys and teacups. the dog is vicious and has bitten 7 people, fights with other dogs viciously (locks on and won't let go). the customer who purchased the dog from alabama's toys and teacups said, "if you don't take the dog, we're going to euthanize her." shame on everyone involved here. alabama's toys and teacups is no more than a puppy mill wrapped in a pink bow profiting on poorly bred animals. shame on this person who "bought" her dog without doing her research and simply wanted to buy a dog! and, now that the dog has problems — because it is a puppy mill dog with poor breeding — she is asking a nonprofit rescue to take it in or she will kill it. sadly, this dog will be killed. it's two years old. and, the dog is not to blame. it is alabama's toys and teacups — a puppy mill poorly breeding animals in the name of profit and this customer who purchased her dog from a puppy mill! shame on all of you!
I bought a chihuahua from alabama toys and teacups in feb 2014. I was told she was a chihuahua and would weigh between 3'pounds and 5 pounds. she is now 6months old and weighs over 10 pounds. she has a chihuahua head but is long like a weenie dog. I am wondering if she is really a chiweenie dog. I love my little dog anyway but they should step up and tell the truth about what they are really selling. I won't buy from them again. you will not know what you are really getting.

Hello
I purchased a chorkie puppy from alabama toys & teacups in june 2013. I live in nyc so I could not actually see sully in person before I purchased him but I was in love with his little face in the picture and I was informed that he would be 4 pounds maximum as an adult-so, my credit card was given and $700 later sully was on his flight from alabama to ny. he did wonderful on his flight and I took him to the vet the very next day. at 9 weeks old sully already weighed 2 pounds 11 ounces and obviously still had a lot of growing to do. I began to realize that this "t-tiny 4 pound maximum weight" was quite a stretch from what would actually be. sully is now 9 months old and weighs 12 pounds. I will say that he is very healthy and lean but he is unusually tall and long. he is not a "teacup" at all, he is just like a regular sized yorkie. even 5-7 pounds would have been fine with me because that's where most toy breeds fall but the fact that I paid $700 for him to be a certain weight and he is clearly not really bothers me. the fact that I signed the paper saying they could not guarantee size is my own fault and so i'm writing this to make others aware... if you cannot see this puppy and weigh it for yourself, do not purchase. carrying a 15 pound dog around the city and on the subways is not ideal, which is why I purchased a "4 pound" dog. I would never give my sully up because he is my baby no matter what, but buyer beware. the t-tiny that they advertise is not tiny at all.

Greetings,
I am the Relationship Manager with Alabama Toys and Teacups. It has come to our attention that the complainant is claiming that they have were sold a sick/ill puppy and that Alabama Toys and Teacups are neglectful breeders. The overall complaint is lacking in truth as well as evidence, but to those who believe what is stated, please understand that this complaint is far from the truth.
Alabama Toys and Teacups give a one year genetic warranty with their puppies and also ask the new owners to take their puppy to a licensed veterinarian in the first 48hrs for a puppy wellness check and they will then call or fax back results. Alabama Toys and Teacups work with their new puppy parents for a smooth transition over into their new forever loving homes through visits, phone calls, and emails.
Alabama Toys and Teacups did not receive any information or contact from anyone stating that their new puppy was sick or in the vet. We have now tried communicating but with no luck. This complaint is not true and is from a made up account.
Alabama Toys and Teacups want only the very best for our puppies. We use only the best vets, vaccinations and worming. All puppies come up to dates on shots and worm medications.
Please view our website for our Vet References and Puppy Parents References.

Toys and Teacups/Merry made it clear in a contract, health warranty, and return policy what had to be done inorder to get your money back or whatever these complainers want. I almost had to wait an extra week to pick-up my pombaby because he hadn't made weight prior that week at the vet visit. I didn't complain when I thought I was going to pick him up a week later. Merry wanted my pombaby healthy and safe to go home. I was given 3 pages of specific materials, food, pack-n-play, and other items to purchase before pick up. I picked my pombaby up and faxed my vet's 24 hour exam paperwork over. My pombaby had been to the vet at least on 5 separate occasions during his 10 weeks of care with ToysandTeacups. My vet thought that was great for the baby and mother. Toys and Teacups are looking for forever homes and good people for their babies.
We had similar issues. Our puppy was VERY underweight, at first I thought this was because he was teacup sized; however, he had hookworms, ear and eye infections and was very sickly. She runs a puppy mill - her paperwork, business info, and store front info and cards ALL have different names under them. Plus she has 15+ different breeds and does not allow house calls...she meets you at her "boutique" She also had to delay our appointment because she was bathing all the puppies because "They are filthy" (her words not mine) WHY would they be so filthy if you are a reputabe breeder and KNOW there was an appt scheduled?
I found this BREEDER ( Alabama toys & teacups) on FACEBOOK. WHY dont you post on their WALL to make public aware of this :
He had scabbies..we got scabbies..During this time he had a terrible hernia, could not urinate. good luck. JULIE
Puppy health & genetic issues
Bought a puppy from Alabama and I just have the puppy 1 week. The Doctors said he never saw mange in a puppy so young. The puppy is now costing me a small fortune because the vet found that Lilly has Sarcoptic Mange a contagious parisite that can be spread to humans, problem with her hind legs (she can't stand up) and the parasite Coccidia. She is not a healty puppy. I understand that young puppies may have parisites which can be treated but the mange/scabbies is transferrable to humans and very hard to get rid of. I am now spending money for vet care so my family doesn't get sick hoping that this works. I have infant grand children that this can be spread to. I am very unhappy about this. Do not buy from these people I lost $900 and it is costing me more wit vet bills
