The 5 star reviews are fake. This app is terrible it doesn’t analyze anything it’s no better that just googling it yourself. And they have the nerve to charge $ 59.59 for a yearly membership. Which by the way they will NOT refund if you cancel. They get you by offering you a free trial and if you forget you will be charged the yearly fee. The worst part is, I canceled as soon as I was charged but still the $60 dollars was taken and so was the subscription. So I essentially paid them for nothing. Truthfully this app is so bad that I’d rather have done that than ever look at it again or risk another duplicitous charge. I’m going through Apple to see if I can get a refund from them. My question is why would anyone run a business like this ?

If you don’t want to pay $59 per year, then this app is practically useless. It’ll give you 1 free identification (1 total, not 1 per day), and then it’s done until you pay. Don’t even think about using the “free” trial, as they don’t respect the 3 day window, and they auto-bill instead of asking if you want to go through with the upgrade. I’d like some sort of in-between app, where the free version is actually useful, and then the pro version has expanded features, access, etc.. Those who need the full thing undoubtedly find this app great, as it seems well put together, and fairly seamless. It just offers nothing for the casual user.

PlantNet and iNaturalist are much more friendly to casual users, and as of right now, don’t charge for plant identification or anything else.

I purchased a sad little succulent plant from Lowe’s with the hope of reviving her. My usually green thumb was stuck since she wasn’t thriving after a month so I paid $9.99 for a consultation. The response was ‘I recommend repotting the plant in a different soil with a little sand added.’
What the heck? WHAT SOIL DO I USE?
I responded back using the sent from address by replying . No response. I tried through the app. They wanted another $9.99. I don’t mind the consult fee if I can communicate in real time to the ‘consultant’. But it’s a one way feed. I feed them $10 and am fed a response solution that doesn’t allow questions based on the response. Yep, no, can’t do. Was wishing this would be a totally awesome app but it isn’t. I discontinued the subscription and want my money back.

This app actually is easy to use. What is awful about it is that while it says it’s free, it’s not. Sure, you can download it for free, it’s just 39.99 per year to use it. It’s deceptive. I prefer honesty and integrity. Of course, there is a free trial (and 6.99 per month for 83.88 a year) that’s for a whopping three days. I thought I’d still try it. Sure, it told me my plant was sick. Duh. It’s gone into shock after planting. Planted a dozen, but only have two that seem to be in shock. But it’s 9.99 to “consult” with an “expert” to find out what to do about it. Thanks, but no thanks. I can buy a new o e for 12.99 if necessary. Better off joking a gardening group for free and getting advice. Pass on this app, it’s a money grab. Funny, if they charged 12.99 flat rate, I probably would have felt it had a lot of value.

Nope folks! This app is not free to use! You have to pay $30 a year to help your plant live and to identify a plant. Wow so corporate…!

Anyway, I think I’ll just stick to google lens. I was gonna say that this app might be more accurate than google lens, but how the heck would I know if I couldn’t even use this app?

Guys, you can’t even try the app out to see if it’s worth your money! It forces you into a subscription. As soon as you open the app, it only shows a pop up that tells you about the annual and weekly prices.

Fix your app and make it free before you’re put under “free” apps.

The plant identification was great. You snap a picture and the app tells you what plant it is! I found this to be more accurate than not. For an extra diagnosis/consultation fee ($9.99 USD), they say they will give you expert consultation on treatment for your sick plants. This last part was a dud. Basically, you input your information to a bot, and after you give information, they tell you 2-3 days wait for an answer. You don’t get to chat with anyone, or discuss the weird issues you are seeing. You just get a wall of text with information you could have gotten off of google. You can’t even chat with them when they get your symptoms wrong! I was told I was under-watering, but I have fungus gnats which is a telltale case of overwatering. I was told to water more frequently. WRONG! I went to a local florist/nursery and they walked me through what to do. I will not use this service again, waste of 10 bucks!

You can take 1 photo total before it FORCES you to sign up for a free trial, or simply pay. That’s absolute nonsense and ultimately makes the app entirely useless. Who in their right mind is paying $60 a year or $8 a month to identify pets and plants? Honestly if you’re that into plants, they have books and plenty other free databases you can use for identification. This is overpriced useless nonsense. Honestly, the only reason why I wanted to take a second photo was because the first time I tried with my cat it gave me breeds that were not accurate at all. I read the descriptions and each one had specific characteristics my cat did not have. For example, the first breed match must have blue eyes, my cats are clearly yellow in the photo. The second breed match had “space between the eyes the same width as the eyes,” the space between my cats eyes are further than this. So on and so forth, my point is this app is USELESS! Do not install!

This app has a price of 9.99 a year for android, but 35.99 a year for apple. You are able to share the subscription with kids using family share on android, but you are unable to do that with apple. Canceling membership and requesting a refund, as this app does not work as described. The developers should be ashamed.

Thank you for the response acknowledging that they are two separate platforms, thrilling your education got you that far.

Again, it is absolutely disgusting you design an app to work on one platform, but not the other. To add to it, you price the working platform 3X cheaper than the non-working platform, as well as no inclusion of family sharing.

Now that you are aware the platforms are completely different, maybe adjust the pricing. You’re clearly unprofessional response and attempt to get smart with a customer over your own app being faulty is further proof I will be filing for a refund. Good luck scamming other people.

First off, this has been a great app to keep track of my plants progress and become acclimated to watering and fertilizing schedules. That being said, I could do this on my own and not pay the $10/mo because that’s really all you’re getting. Is a plant note taker.

Most of the “plant care” advise can be found using a simple Google search. Also, I find that there are many plant species that are not included in the “identifier.” Leaving me with a “Your Plant” snap with no further information.

Most frustrating of all, is the feature that allows you to communicate with a “plant bot” for EXPERT analysis of an issue. Although I have the premium subscription, it requires another $10 (PER SESSION) to begin a chat… with a bot…

This was the last straw for me. I will be saving my money and utilizing an app that doesn’t overcharge for what is actually offered and doesn’t try to gauge me when trying use the features that supposedly are included with a premium subscription.

Waste of money and time.

This app is really useful to use if you need to take care of plants and such, and I highly recommend this app because of that aspect. You can diagnose plants, use the light meter, get reminders to water, mist, and fertilize your plants, and a lot more of useful tools that are near perfect in accuracy. The huge issue I have with this app is it’s in-app purchasing feature. Usually I am okay with in-app purchasing but this app implemented the in-app purchasing in a way where most of the app’s features are behind a pay wall. They give you a 3 day free trial, but the trial is essentially useless because most (if not all) of the plants needed to be cared for need more than three days of general assessment for its care. I wish they had made the free trial at least a month, or made less of the content behind a pay wall. (For reference, The monthly payment you’d need for the premium membership feature is $5.99 USD, but by the end of the year, it would add up to a whooping $71.88 by the end of the year.)

Absolutely amazing app w/constantly updating improvements! I actually love this app & I truly rarely make a review...think the only other one I’ve made is for the Amazon app I downloaded years ago..
This is a good app, considering that I’m not extremely experienced in horticulture, but have some years from my recent past gardening journeys. I feel that the developers could easily achieve better recognition through AI on knowing most images relatable towards an understanding of the specific image, as I have through my own self-created algorithm(I’m not a developer, nor have I gone through any study besides watching YouTube/(publicly-available)“under-table” resources, & ice realized how simple these algorithms are..

Other than that, this is a great app that I use daily; as this is season 2 of me becoming a ‘greenthumb’ personally and for the most part, it’s an extremely beneficial source for any person who wants to get into gardening/become [protected]@gardening, or people who just have no organization skills & plant multiple seeds from different species in one pot.

You’ll come even, & possibly more knowledgeable towards the outcomes you’re looking for.

DO NOT EVEN TRY TO PREVIEW THIS APP! It is an inaccurate money grabbing scheme. It didn’t correctly identity any of the plants for my class assignment. I tried to cancel my subscription but it sneakily just starts charging you. If you delete the app it still charges you. If you try to cancel your prescription from the app it is NOT intuitive. You have to contact them to help you cancel your “free” subscription and by then it is too late. They purposefully make it hard to cancel so you miss their tiny evil window before they charge you out the butt for a worthless app. They want to be sure you don’t have adequate time to realize the app is complete garbage so that they can rob you of your hard earned money. Botanists would feel sick to their stomach if they saw this app and how inaccurate it is. I am so upset that my money was taken from me for this worthless crappy inaccurate app. I will leave bad reviews as often as possible until my money is refunded to me. People deserve to know that they will be ripped off if they preview this app. I’m not sure how this app got any good reviews - maybe they used all of their money from ripping people off with their fake free trial in order to make some fake accounts and leave good reviews in order to trick more people out of their money. It is so sick that they have no remorse in just taking money from people. $60 is a lot to just steal from someone. Some of us are making an honest living and $60 isn’t just based on tricking other people. It’s several hours of hard work to make $60 for some of us. If you know what’s good for you DONT GET THIS APP!

So upon down loading this app it will offer you a one week free trial and request your payment info to begin your free trial
So this is exactly what I did and on the date of expiration I unsubscribed and deleted the app and the app still charged me the following day
which I was unaware of because the charge was to a card that I only load money on to when I go shopping and on vacation
After contacting apple two months prior to the charges that were made -and after my apple account was frozen and I was not allowed to down load new apps or update the apps I currently have, I was told to just update my payment info so that I can begin downloading and updating my apps again and then just request a refund from apple once my payment goes through and I should be able to get my money back
This was so untrue
Because yes once I made the payment my account was unlocked and I was able to update my apps and download new one
But apple refused to refund although I did unsubscribe from the free trial before the week ended
So buyer beware if you download this app even if you unsubscribe they will charge you anyway because in order to even use the app you have to give them you debit card info which I guess to them means they can charge whenever they want regardless of the free trials
And I was charged 32.65 for and app that gives me info about plants that I can look up on google
The app isn’t spectacular in anyway
It’s doesn’t tell you if your plant is sick all it does is identify it and it’s species
But does nt help you to care for it in the way it was advertised if you want to know more about how to treat your plant it basically gives you articles to read and shows you images of different types of illness a plant can have so you know what they might look like
Which as I said I can do that on google
I can research everything they provided me with
I thought this app would be able to not only identify my plants but the sicknesses and how to treat them or even if my plant isn’t sick give me advice based on the current health of my plant what to buy for it or what it might need more of at that very moment
Is what I thought this app could do
Which I was deceived in more ways than just one
So I’m very unhappy about this app
I feel robbed and cheated
And now I’m stuck with this dumb app until next year even though it’s not even on my phone anymore

I paid $14.99 at the mashables shop for a
Lifetime subscription to this app. Then was billed a monthly fee for this app via the App Store!

So I’m billed twice, don’t get a lifetime subscription and am scammed for $29.98!

The redemption process via Mashable is convoluted and complete nonsense! I couldn’t figure it out!

I think this app is too expensive for what is does, which is little. It couldn’t positively identify any of my plants. My Arabian wax ivy wouldn’t be identified, and she’s hard to get mixed up. An ideal app, something I’d be willing to pay for, would not bunch up calatheas into a group. It should be able to identify the precise species. This way the app would aid in learning the requirements of each in greater detail. I just don’t think the services offered are worth paying for

I wanted to know what one single plant was. I downloaded this app after reading the reviews. I thought I’ll just be really careful. I’m glad I was. First I hit the take a picture it offered a free trial. I didn’t push the little button over thinking i wouldn’t have to pay and there would be no chance of me getting charged. Next page it took me to was wanting me to pay for a full year. I exited out of the app really quick after that. Pay attention because it will get you if you don’t.

If you want an ad to exit out every 1-2 clicks this is a great app for you! I wanted to identify a few plants in my yard from the precious seller, however, everytime I go to the identification it comes up with a 19.99 subscription. Once you click out it cancels your identification. Never ending loop and could not get identification to work again without exiting out. Definitely an improvement to make with the UI. I don’t think I’ve ever written a review for an app before, but used this for ~30 minutes and have given up.

I’ve had the app for about 2 weeks and then suddenly it logged me out. When I tried to log back in it took my information and then crashed. I’ve tried to open it several times but it just keeps crashing. It also mislabeled poisonous plants as safe, gave me two different plants when I took a picture of the same plant twice, and has limited slots available for saving plants to your file unless you pay to have more.
My google home assistant does everything this app is supposed to do without the crashing so I don’t think I’ll be keeping the app.

This App will bill you $7.00 per week ($364.00 per year) by default, but offer the same premium subscription for $10.00 per year. Every person paying $364.00 per year for this is being massively scammed.

Edit (Response to developer): My issue is not with having different plans, it’s with the fact that the default subscription unwittingly charges people so much more, and that you have about 100 different prices for the exact same plans. That’s a scam. I can’t imagine how many people don’t realize they could be saving $354.00 per year off their subscription.

So I want to give a short yet honest review about this app. To be honest it isn’t great and I don’t recommend. I already spend about $100 on flowers every year. I am not going to add $120 just so an app could tell me how to fix my plant. I can get someone to do that for 50 bucks. To add on, it’s click bait. It says “we will tell you the steps to take care of your plants” oh really why am I here doing that myself. I have to pick out which disease I see? All negative comments a side, it identifies the plant well not gonna lie. Overall, I don’t highly recommend this app.

Tried to use a picture I had, and it told me the image was too small. What? Put it through a different plant ID app and it worked. Don’t allow camera roll access if you are going to have such restrictions. I’m probably using a pic from my camera roll because I’m not near the plant anymore. So if the image is “too small” whats my recourse? Moreover, the shameless promo for your premium is too much. After one use an ad for it comes up and takes up the whole screen. Then in the app it’s all over as well. We get it. Premium is an option. You don’t need to shove it down people’s throats continuously.

I just paid $7.99 for this app! Then on top of that they wanted $19.99 for a one year subscription just to use the app!

Perhaps if it was noted in the original description that there was an additional ANNUAL FEE, I would not have download the app in the first place for $7.99!

Yes, I see it says “in App purchases”, many apps do… but to add a "SURPRISE" yearly subscription go $19.99 on top of an already costly app, not mentioned is quite unfair to the consumer.

I was using the free version of this app for months and enjoying it a lot. I liked it so much I wanted to upgrade to the paid version to support the app + its creators. First off, I noticed no major changes to subscribing for $20. Secondly, my app now crashes all the time, they took away the plant care reminders which were the only useful thing in this app. There used to be a way to snooze plant care reminders when the plant didn’t need them- now it just sends 30 push notifications a day. This app is a waste and I am downloading other plant care apps. Wish I didn’t waste my $$ in an attempt to support this useless app

I downloaded this app almost a year ago. The reminders are helpful, but I noticed that if I miss a day (ADHD, I don’t always get to it with reminders) then the list of plant care tasks disappear for that day. They don’t transfer to the next day, so you just have to guess based on last watering. I also am very displeased with their plant ID. Most of my newer or unique plants are never ID-ed correctly or even close to what it is. I’ve even tried inputting the common name as well as the scientific classification & on many of my plants it doesn’t recognize the plant. After about a year of trying I’m calling it a wash & deleting.

I should have checked the other reviews. My cousin signed up to get a free trial to use for a hike but it charged immediately the $59.99/year. It has no real information about the plants and barely helps with identification. It’s not worth that much and there’s other plans that are cheaper but they scam you for the highest one I’ve been trying to get this refunded, will see how it goes. DO NOT USE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!

Edit: I will not be “emailing tech support” because it’s very clear under these comments that this scam is a common issue and they haven’t done anything to fix it. They will keep scamming you if you don’t catch it. DO NOT USE THIS APP!

I did not give them permission to take money out of my account. I downloaded the app and than canceled before the free trial ended. Actually canceled SAME DAY! No issues for 2 months and than all the sudden I put a working active card on my phone and they charged me $65.00 I don’t even have the app anymore! Yesterday the app was NOT in my subscription area in my iPhone and than today it is and I found out by the bank calling me! SERIOUSLY! This is why I want to get away from Apple so so bad! I shouldn’t have to have a card on file in order to download apps. When I finally put one in there that is active stupid app like this wanna charge me!

The first few plants you check they let you do it for free but after that before each picture they have you watch adds, very inconvenient if you are a huge plant person with many plants around your home. Not to mention the app doesn’t even get half of the plants correct or doesn’t have a answer to what your plant is. And lastly it claims to be able to tell you the disease that your plant may have but each time you go to try it, it instead takes you to a slide for you to post a disease your plant has and describe it yourself instead of actually telling you wants going on with it. I recommend plantnet, I’m recently new to that app but so far I’ve been happy with it

So I’ve been trying to figure out what kind of dog I have. Seen this app and gave it a try. My dog went from being a Musa, a Suillus Luteus, Platycerium Bifurcatum, etc (those are plants/fungi btw), to a chihuahua, a French bulldog, a pug, a poodle, an Irish wolfhound, etc. So, you take a picture under the dog setting, it gives you a plant. Then you click on not a plant and it wants you to choose whether it’s a cat or dog (it should know, right?) and then it gives you a hundred different breeds wanting you to learn what it may/could be. This app could have potential, but it’s far from it. If you’re trying to figure out what’s poison ivy/oak, stay away from this app and use google.
