My experience with Affordable Transmission can be summed up in on/e word - NIGHTMARE! My rear differential broke on my way to work so I needed to find a shop to fix my vehicle. I didn't want to be stranded. I was driving around from shop to shop then finally I came across Affordable Transmission. Jake made a few calls looking for the part while I was sitting there. Both Jake and Rich (owner) stated that they can start working on my vehicle on 9/4/25. Since the job was so expensive, I applied for SNAP Finance to cover the cost.

There was never a phone call from them providing updates on my vehicle - RED FLAG! I had to call them to ask for a status on several occasions. It was excuse, after excuse. Then, I checked reviews, and I knew I made a bad choice leaving my vehicle with them. I had to rent a vehicle so I could get back and forth to work.

At this point, the following week we went in person to ask what was going on. First excuse, waiting on the part to be programmed. Second excuse, it was the wrong part ordered need to wait on the new part. Third excuse, the part was on backorder. We never seen any parts and at this point I just wanted to get my vehicle out of the shop.

I had to contact SNAP Finance multiple times to figure out how they were ready for me to make my first payment before my vehicle was fixed and returned to me. Totally a RED FLAG! I made a dispute with SNAP on 9/12/25 since I never received my fixed vehicle. Then, they started contacting Jake and Rich (owner).

After many phone calls and visits to the shop the following week, we ended up calling the Livonia Police Department and having my vehicle towed on 9/26/25. Unfortunately, my vehicle couldn't change gears, and we found out that there were parts missing from my vehicle. Of course, when I called Jake to ask about my missing parts, Rich (owner) just left the shop, and he will call me back. Never received a phone call.

I found another mechanic to fix my vehicle on 9/26/25 and I received my fixed vehicle back on 9/30/25.

So many lessons learned throughout this horrible experience. Always check reviews before going to any business or receiving services. Thank God I was able to rent a vehicle for 3 weeks to get back and forth to work. Now, I am currently working with SNAP Finance to get my account closed without being responsible for making any payments.

Recommendation: Stay away from this auto shop
