Hello my name is Ayse Howard. While on Fall break, I purchased my first car the 2008 Mazda 6 from A and J used cars on 10/18/2022. As I was driving on 10/19/2022 I noticed smoke coming from my rear tire on the passenger side and when I came to a stop, and I couldn’t brake. Thankfully there were no other cars or pedestrians. I had to continuously push the brake to build pressure to stop the vehicle. This was scary because I am a new driver. I had my vehicle towed by AAA paid $ 25. My vehicle was towed to Mazda dealership since I already made a service appointment for oil change. I called A and J used cars and was unable to get through to anyone. Mazda performed an inspection on the vehicle. I also attached the inspection report A and J used Cars gave me. The overall cost to pay for brake repairs with Mazda dealership was $2026. They explained the brake cylinders aka the heart of the brakes where so bad technicians was not allowed to drive the vehicle. I couldn't afford the repairs at the dealership, so I had the vehicle towed to another shop to be worked on. On Saturday I called A and J used car where I purchased my car from, and they responded my 3 days after purchasing was expired and since I signed a AS IS they were not liable for the vehicle. I did call them within that time frame as shown in my phone records. At this time, I was in town on break and I stayed the following week after break to get the vehicle repaired, I was able to drive it back to school. I purchased a brand-new battery $209.10 and paid $1,355 for the needed repairs except for the motor Mount and stabilizer link which still needs to be worked on. On Monday 10/31/2022 when I was getting ready to go home from work the car would not start. I had my car towed from campus to my apartment parking lot where it’ll stay because I can’t afford to have it repaired. I am requesting either repairs or partial refund from the original purchase. The vehicle was sold with bad brakes which is life threatening.

Country of complaint: United States

Desired outcome: I am requesting either repairs or partial refund from the original purchase.
