1-800 Contacts review: Lack of notification on their website that they will ship unverified prescritions.

I placed an order using my previous prescription for contacts as written on the contact lens boxes. After entering the data, I checked to see how old the prescription was and realized it was dated Oct 2024. The 1-800Contacts web site says they would get in touch with my doctor, whose name and number I provided, to verify the prescription. In the meantime, I had made and kept an appointment with a new provider to have a contact lens exam and get an updated prescription. I learned then from a customer service rep that they filled my prescription without verification because my original provider did not call them back. Still, they filled the outdated prescription and notified me that it was being shipped. The rep explained that they could do this according to federal law. (The law states that the prescription that was entered by the customer can be filled despite having no physician verification after not hearing from a provider after 8 hours.) I soon received notification via email that my order using the old Rx had been filled and shipped. These events - ordering lenses, getting an exam and a new Rx - occurred over a span of three days. Their website only says they will contact the physician...which they did...but it does not explain any consequences if the physician's office does not call back. But that nuanced information is not on their website in any form, shape or manner. I think they need to tell people that an expired Rx will be filled even if they do not receive verification within a certain period of time.
