Souq.com offers a super promotion in the latest HOT products such as an iPhone 5 in 270$ USD or a Mini iPad in 135$ USD they offer it in a promotion called WOW DEAL wich is announced in a big advertisement program 1 month before with an specific date of launch.
The consumer is required to wait for the launch as the time of the deal is not specified, only the date.
Upon further inquiries by phone the only information given is that the consumer must wait for the product to launch as it could launch on the website at any moment of the day and due to a limited amount of products may only last for few minutes. Therefore constantly refreshing the page is an absolutely necessity as not to miss out on the WOW DEAL.

There was a wow Deal today 8th of April 2013 for a Blackberry Z10 for 999 AED which is 270 USD.
Everybody was required to start checking the website at 00:00 hours (midnight) 8th of April and refresh as much as possible since it can be launched at any moment.
During this time a facebook page was setup with around 100 buyers interested in the same deal so we were communicating between each other about when the WOW DEAL will be launched.
Finally at 8:30 a.m. after more than 8 hours refreshing the website every second the product was supposedly launched but as an already SOLD ITEM. It was through this facebook page that we the consumers realized the product was never available for us to purchase but was simply a SCAM in order to attract traffic to the website. The reason why we believe this is because during the time of launch we all commented among each other if somebody could get the deal during that second but most of us only saw that the item was SOLD OUT in only a fraction of second only a few people managed to put the item in the cart but at the end they couldn't buy it because the website was giving them this error. "The requested items could not be added to your cart at the moment" when they refreshed the website to try again the item was sold out as well.
We all started asking between each othe if somebody could get the Promotion but nobody answered positively.

The website address that we had to constantly be refreshing was this: http://deals.souq.com/ae-en/
I will attach some pictures as proves of how the product shows sold out.

If you want to see all the coments go to the facebook page : http://www.facebook.com/SouqUAE?fref=ts&filter=2 and look for the post of the morning of 8th April 2013 around 00:00 to 12 midday. You will have a full explanation and prove of what im saying.

WOW DEAL is definitely not true do not loose hours of your life because whatever is too good to be true is not real.

As simple as this, Souq.com UAE wouldn't need to comment on ANYTHING if they are not GUILTY. What is a big "successful" company as souq be doing on a customers complaint page trying to justify themselves. What is the need if the company claims to be fair? Isnt it normal for some companies to have negative feedback?...however, when there are over hundreds of complaints, of course, a company feels the need to take necessary action to prove they are fair, by, deleting messages on their facebook page, blocking certain customers from access to this page and justifying themselves on a customer's complaint page..No one is trying to tarnish your image. It is you, Souq.com, who have done this to yourselves by advertising a product that never existed as a marketing scheme to fool customers in believing they had a real chance in purchasing this amazing deal.

You have no words, they are empty, since there is no Government or a regulating company available to prove your DEALS are FAKE.

You can say a thousand things and have "proof", but all of it can be just made up.
You can have people claiming they got the WOW [SCAM] DEAL but all of them may be your own staff or your employees following your orders and posting feedback on these purchases in order to deceive us once again.

THE FACT is that we were not 50 or a hundred people, WE were THOUSANDS of people looking for the WOW DEAL (that was a SCAM) continually refreshing your website every second and ALL OF US, within a fraction of a second suddenly saw your product updated as SOLD OUT! and whoever got to put it in the cart WAS NOT ABLE TO BUY IT due to a message appearing "The requested item could not be added to your cart at the moment" therefore the buyers were not able to proceed with the purchase. THIS IS CALLED A SCAM. This is DECEIVING and is not right.

You got people from every kind of race and financial status' waiting and wasting their time for this. There were reportedly people who stayed up all night, even though they had to go to work early the next day. Do you think this is FAIR?

Even if your deal was true... (lets say) and lets say you sold 5 to 10 items in a second (which is impossible) Why would you attract thousands of people for a product that will only be available for a couple of people? Why would you play with peoples time and energy like this? Of course we know the reason. It is in order to satisfy your selfish desire to fill your pockets with money by creating more traffic to your website.

If you were a real, honest and a FAIR website, at least you would have given a time frame for the WOW DEAL of 4 hours and you would state HOW MANY ITEMS YOU HAD AVAILABLE FOR THE DEAL. But of course, we know the reason you don't do it, and it is because if you would say how many items you had you would never have had attracted thousands of people to your website like you did on 8TH APRIL 2013 with the FAKE BLACKBERRY Z10 for 999AED. AND this is only supposing that your deal was real for a couple of people which we are sure is not the case.

Souq.COM I will always be here to tell the truth for THE PEOPLE you are hurting and deceiving with your SCAMS.
I will always be here to give FACTS not empty words with no real PROOF like you guys DO.

So please DEAR do your self a favor and STOP SCAMMING.

I just received and email from Khaleej Times (a Major Newspaper in Dubai) asking for my mobile number to talk about writing an article about Souq.com WOW DEALS.
But I don't know if I should do it. Or if is real that is Khaleej Times... Specially while providing my Mobile Number.
I am uploading an image with the email they sent me. So you can see it and tell me.

When I listen to people like you it gives me more courage to keep defending this cause.

Your comment only confirms once again how souq is able to deceive us using others people name in order to confuse and make us believe their deals were real.
Look how this j3poii threatens me by saying "The next move is yours, SOUQ is just waiting" what he is saying is definately because he is part of SOUQ and they are afraid of the media. So yes, now I will do as much as I can to let everybody know about this.

I will repeat, souq can say whatever they want. The fact is that your promo or deals are not regulated by any kind of regulatory company or by the government, therefore, there is NOTHING that can guarantee or make us believe in you after all of us experienced the BB Z10 deal being sold out in less than a second. And nobody was able to say they got the DEAL.

After 2 days Souq supposedly delivers the BBZ10 to four or five people and takes pictures of them to prove the deal was not a scam...but what does this prove? NOTHING! As far as I am concerned, these people are all part of souq.com and not real winners... And the worst part is, that nothing can be done to prove any of it is real.
INVOICES can be made up, photos can be faked and sent, comments can be posted by "happy customers"...the list goes of all the things they can do to state their deals are real and not just desperate measures to save their image.

The only way we can believe in their promos is:
1- If they say the time the WOW DEAL is going to be up. (They DO NOT want to do this because it will lower the amount of time the customers will be in their website.)
2- If they say HOW MANY ITEMS will be available. (They DO NOT want to do this because this will lower the amount of traffic in their website because people will already know their REAL chances of getting the DEAL)
3- If they contract a third party company as a regulator of the DEAL. or a government institution will be better. (They DO NOT want to do this because the WOW Deal is a SCAM.)

This is really the only way we can confidently say, YES ALL DEALS ARE REAL, and it is all we are asking, after this we will believe, not to mention make your customers happy and not waste their time. Because it will then be controlled by your side and our side, not only by SOUQ.COM, which is unfair.
We need this because your word can not be trusted... And it makes it worse when you try and cover up your mistakes including when participating on negative comments blogs.

So please dear, do yourself a favor and MAKE CHANGES, don't stoop any lower.

J3poii what is wrong with that is that there is no regulations on these Deal...
Must of the Countries where you do such schemes, or games or deal as you want to call it have a third party regulatory company that regulates the fairness and the reality of the Deal.
UAE is not asking them or forcing them to do this. Therefore the deal cannot be trusted.
They can do whatever they want and play with us as they like.

Before anything else my Dear i am going to talk with you with the respect a human being deserves.
I will tell you I was a seller and buyer in souq.com and I used to do it as a form of business.
I do not die to have a BB Z10 but why not to buy it for 999? I believed in souq and realize I was loosing my time bu doing it and thats not fair.
Listen, I am a justice lover. I love to be Fair and people to be treated as they deserve. That is why i have the courage and I invest the time to let people know the truth about souq.

Even though the WOW Deal though is not a raffle or a lottery it needs to be regulated because it can easily be used in the ways i already told you.
Or tell me my dear friend? Is it impossible that the deals are fake. Is it impossible that they are doing it just to attract people to their website making innocent people loose time? Is it impossible tey can make up invoices or make their own employees post on facebook that the deal is tru and take pictures of the to "prove" it is true?

And now lets say that the deal is true: for example 2-4 items sold:
Do you think is fair make someone loose their sleep and go to work without sleeping without letting them know there is only 2-4 items? Because trust me noone that sees this deal thinks about the offer being only 2 items. People are excited for it. At the end you guys are playing with these peoples feeling.
The only way to stop this to be able to happen is to have a regulatory company. As simple as that.
I am pretty sure you are from souq I can't imagine a customer trying to save a company reputation like this without winning nothing. Its just unusual. So if you are from souq let me tell you I will not stop this until you make the deal fair say the time give the quantity of a ailabke items and have a regulatory company. Or you stop the deals.

Please do not be offensive in your next messages if you want to answer. Keep it i. The respect way. Thank you.

They Did it again Today with the iPhone Deal making fool of the PEOPLE.
Now they are using a new strategy. Instead of publishing the item as sold out right away they are leaving the item on the website as if you are able to buy it. It shows 45% sold and when you hit BUY IT NOW you just get a SERVER ERROR...
SOUQ.COM You are so pathetic.

The only reason I did not do it is because I am not an EMIRATI. I am an expatriate. And you know that we dont have as many rights as an EMIRATI. I did not do it because I do have a business here and I dont know if the government is supporting SOUQ so I dont want any problem.

I dont believe they would support them if they know they are doing something illegal come on... I never said that. What i meant by government supporting them is that government has given them the right to operate in UAE. The thing is that SOUQ has the ways to make it look legal because there is nothing that is regulating them... So my Word would be nothing for them until they can proove them ilegal...
Is that all you can do blame it on me a person that is fighting for the right thing?
Come on... It is so obvious that these guys are doing something wrong.
If you were not part of them you wouldnt be supporting them come on Jeffrey let us be in our own complaint board there are many people affected and thats why they are here.

J3poii:

You have a good point. And I understand what you mean.
However,
Why does this always happen?
Why did it happen this morning again? Now in a different way: The Deal is available with 45% sold but nobody is able to buy it...
They should really stop this because even if they are selling only one (and this is giving them the benefit of the doubt as you requested) they are getting thousand of customers angry and wasting their time for a selfish desire of making money bringing traffic, popularity and accruing emails from customers.
And yes, They do have good prices and good Deals...
Also other bad things like horrible shipping and handling and low quality product sometimes. But is a young and growing company so this is understandable.

hey evidence enough is many people complaining and no clear evidence that the deal was true.

I checked the report... But at the end Souq will give a good explanation.
The good think is that... I think there will not be anymore wow deals.

We actually managed to make souq say at what time the deal was going to be live and to put in the advertisement that there is a limited quantity which is fair enough and we got to do a lot with it.

Exactly and a real customer would never spend hours of his live in this complaint board defending a company with so much passion as j3poii is doing!

This is the reason I strongly believe he is part of souq.com.
Anyway, we have already gotten what we wanted that is to stop the Wow deals.

Even on the last wow deal they had to state at what time the deal was gonna be on and that there is a limited quantity.

We have a Victory there Jake Real!
And thanks for your support Jake Real.
And J3poii also for being such a good person to argue with!

@Jake Real
If your arguments were slammed right onto your face, that's what you do. You resort to demands which really don't matter. How do you prove something like that in a virtual place? Unless you want to meet me and my family and friends, how?
You are not making any sense. You're accusations are baseless. You can speculate and have doubt all your life for all I care but I will not give in to your demands just to satisfy you.
Answer the 3 points or you are just nothing.
I have invalidated your claim days ago. You are not making any sense.
The points I presented to you are facts. They don't have to come from Souq.com. They can be said by smart people too.
And by the way, I think one of the competing companies paid you to destroy Souq. There, I returned the favor. Prove that and you get what you want.
Now, do not stop barking. Lol. Then roll on your tummy. :)))))
(Note: I posted this yesterday and today, it didn't show. As a gentleman, can you post it for me? Thanks.)

There's no scam here, just people who are complaining they couldn't grab the offer in time. There's only a few pieces and many people trying to get them. A scam would be if you paid for it, money left your account and you don't receive anything. It's a publicity thing, if you don't like it, stop using their website and move their emails to spam. Also, your comments are SPAM on their wall cause they already explained the concept to you. Stop attaching screenshots and explaining, cause you did not get scammed.

I got my deal, don't know what anybody is complaining about. Yes, this deal is a publicity stunt, there's limited stocks. Very limited. It might be even a few pieces that thousands are trying to get. It's not your device till you've paid and received it. Until you have received the device and paid for it, you can claim it's yours and no "scam" has taken place. A scam would be if you paid for the item, and the money left your account and you never received the device. That is just not the case as none of you guys have been able to pay for it yet. Again, try at 11.59pm the night before the deal and you might get lucky. This was already explained and just because you're angry and ranting on their facebook wall where other people have real complaints, they've maked yours as spam. Move along, there's no action to take here. If you don't want to receive any updates on this, delete your SOUQ account and mark all their emails as SPAM, simple.

your answering my question by another question...thats not how argument works, it should be "Question then Answer"... why dont you prove yourself first and post your evidence here in the complaint board. i dont bark when somebody else ask me to, i am the master of myself! and dont represent somebody else. not unless you show us hard evidence that your not one of them, you cannot remove my doubt. That is the point of these arguments. If you cannot bring up good counter points in your complaint, you are not making sense. You are just a sore loser, like a kid thinking he was robbed a candy not really his. Go ahead, make your fonts "more" bigger. If that will make you "more" happier. Lol.

I can attest to a previous wow deal.
I have stated and explained all the reasonings from my understanding of the deal. But you fail to understand everything I said.
You are blinded by your sour graping. You are so frustrated because you were not able to grab the deal that you won't believe anything I say about these Wow deals.
You are now acting like a sore loser. I pity you.
What kind of attestment do you want?
Do you want to see the iPad?
Do you want to meet me and know about me?
Seriously?
I have been trying to grab these deals from more than a year ago. What about you? Did you really think it was that easy to buy from a deal like that?
When your mind is clear enough, think about these:
1. They spent a certain amount of money on these online ads, can't they spend for the iPhone 5's to be sold? (be it 1, 5, 50 pcs...) I don't think a company which is doing good will risk its name for a number of iPhone 5's which may only cost a fraction of the ads.
2. You cannot just fake something like that. It was all over the UAE. Even on the online paper.
3. If you were not able to grab it, as I told you, ### happens.
You should have known these before you started whining and acting like you did.

Hi j3poii, you do have a point but i will never ever think like the way you did not unless you attest yourself that your not working with souq.com or have any relatives or connection with them rather than attesting/claiming that you won an ipad last year that doesnt even have a hard/physical document. And it seem like your alias is tagalog "j3poii which stands for jepoii" am i right? And based on my expirience since i've been dealing with souq.com since 2009. I notice that 90% of their employees are from this tagalog country... furthermore, i dont think somebody manage to bag this item during that times since their website is so slow and giving error. So whats the point of being fast is the website is slow and always giving error? Only small kids will believe this lame excuse...

Jake Real: Did I make a point? Was my explanation reasonable? Stop being closed minded. You should know that with these Wow deals there were limited stock. And you should be aware that they must have a system that automatically shuts other buyers off when the target number of items had been sold to the quickest buyers. Right?

To say that they paid me after I explained everything is BS.
You speculated against me and now you owe me for that.
I can attest to a previous wow deal. You have nothing but doubts and speculations.

If you just think the way I think, you will just move on and hopefully look forward for another wow deal. But if you think you wasted your time on previous deal, do not join future wow deals. Nobody is forcing you. It is your right to not join.

Good morning.

thanks for your answer j3poii... its not that im a sore loser or something but missing this deal is a totally disappointment specially when you know that your on the right track then after that "### Happens" as you said so. anyhow, i can still purchase this item even without the Big discount. i just hope that souq.com didnt pay you to bark and scratch their ### for them... or who knows?! you might be one of them hiding under souq.com skirt...

### happens. If there were 50 items for sale, it means there were already 50 people quicker than you who managed to check out and pay before you. Did you manage to pay? I guess not.

I tried to grab the deal too. I was not lucky this time. But I had the iPad 2 last year. I can attest to that.
Check out my screen capture during the deal. I had a saved for later and another in my cart. Only 1 item was allowed I don't know how that happened.

Funny you even used a camera to take photo of your screen which I think slowed you down. Screen capture - you're doing it wrong.

such kind of scam should not be tolerated by UAE government. since in my case, i was able to add the promo item on my cart, chosen the delivery address and payment method but when I'm about to confirm my order it shows that all the items were already sold out. i also posted the photo of it to their FB page so that i can get a clear explanation on what happened to my transaction, but unfortunately nobody bother to answer my query. please check the attached photo.

@Debunker - you said, "you earned all your luxuries from our quality time that we wasted on surfing your website"

How? You are clearly misguided. If you don't sell or purchase from them, then they don't get anything from you. They earn profits from commissions that are paid by the sellers for listing their items on the site. Quality time your face.

You said, "The good think is that... I think there will not be anymore wow deals."

First, why would you want them to stop? Did they force anyone to participate? You were speculating it was a scam. You are all speculating. Grow up and be man enough for your actions. Stop being immature. THEY DID NOT FORCE YOU TO JOIN. Why did you even bother to join? You really thought there were unlimited stock? You should know better than that.

What about the people who are in fact enjoying the deal for the fun of it and not dying to have the item but don't want to purchase it from other stores?

I can stop arguing if I want. But I don't just involve myself in arguments knowing I will lose face in the end. I got myself involve because I speak of my experience, I can attest to everything I say. You say I am part of Souq.com? I say that's BS. Souqscam, setting aside your bitterness, you know deep inside I that there is truth in what I say. Every point I mentioned is more believable than your speculations.

Wow souq.com hats off to your strategies, they really fool people almost on every wow deal, i just forwarded a complaint on there website and found the whole blog and even on facebook claiming that souq is a big time fraud, well its good to know the fact about it. not going to waste my time, by the way souq.com is not a company its just a website with few bunch of ###s work over there, i think its time that we should report and shutdown this website.
1st thing start disliking them over facebook, twitter. and report as much as you can about these frauds over internet for making us pay for their frauds by visiting the website, you earned all your luxuries from our quality time that we wasted on surfing your website, dont forget that souq people

I've no idea if they are scamming or not, as I only used them once and was so shocked by how bad the customer service was (phones rining out and never being answered) it put me off them for life. Whatever they are offering, its not worth the effort IMO, as if it goes wrong good luck trying to find someone to sort it out for you.
Just remember, if something seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Greetings
guys, I had same experience today (wow deal on 29/04/13). I could add the item to my cart, but when I tried to check out, the system shows my shipping address is wrong.I do not know how this will happen when I use the same address to purchase 4 items before. At last the item was saved for later and could not buy it. How one address is wrong for only one purchase and works for all other purchase.
So guys do not waste your valuable time, , , ,

LMAO. Been there, done that! Evidence please? Many people complaining? Of course, thousands were not able to grab it. And I pity all of you whiners. You are crying like Souq is oblige to sell the iPhone 5 to everyone at 50% discount? Are you even thinking? If they want to go bankrupt that is the way to go. It was a promo dear whiners. You know what? Unless you grab one of their wow deals, I don't think you will believe anything I say. I'm just laughing with your speculations. They're annoyingly funny. Now, what if they sold at least 5 items?

If u have one phone for a deal y go on souq to sell it? People sell phones on deals for them self all the time with out help. So then what is the real motive? Think people think .in-addition professional companies don't waste time commenting back and forth in there defence they do the right thing and make some sort of public statement and that it

Dishonestly I hate! I've cancelled my previous orders and I made my application for my account to be deleted! My motto 'action speaks louder than words'.They will come and they will go but I refuse to let people like SOUQ.CON make a fool out of me . Buy the way I reach the checkout at 9:04 and was booted off .

If you think you wasted your time, then who is to blame? Come on.
Have you seen the report by the way?
Anyway, you still owe everyone an evidence that Wow deal is a scam. Just one evidence is good enough.
Horrible shipping and handling? 10 days was the longest I waited for an item. Low quality products? Depends which product you are purchasing (price might be dirt cheap too).
