These guys are horrible. They decided they needed to move the Valueweb customer's servers to Tampa, Fl since HostWay took over. My server has been offline for almost 4 days! You call support and they pretty much laugh at you and say we're working on it. 99.9% uptime means nothing to these guys... customer support and customer satisfaction are completely written off as well. If you are thinking of getting a server from these guys because they are cheap, think again. You would be better off spending $50-$100 more to get with a real hosting company. Valueweb and Hostway's chat support buttons on their web pages are dead ends so that should let you know something.

Please save yourself the aggravation and grief of doing business with these clowns, and if you are with them you better change right now, because when you have a problem, and you will, you will be out of luck.

Worse. Company. Ever. My experience has been identical to all the others with complaints on this site. Hostway does not care about its customers, doesn 't care to communicate with them, doesn't care if the servers are down (sometimes for DAYS) and doesn't care if support is non-existent. I was with Valueweb for YEARS--an amazinag company. Such a shame that Hostway now owns them; I'm going to move my last site away from them shortly; used to host FIVE for me.

[censored], I'm having problems yet again too. Like I said, 10 years with ValueWeb and virtually no isssues! Now in the past yr since Hostway bought them, it has been a nightmare! Major outages in just the past 3 months!
And always seems to be on a friggin weekend! And now this weekend, in addition to Hostway's DNS blunders, I'm getting double whammy'ed with issues over at Aplus.net with a couple domains that I have set to forward over to my Hostway hosted domains. And a Hostway support tech gave me instructions to give to Aplus.net, to only have a different Hostway tech today say they were improper instructions. And so Aplus, just switched things back to what they were. This is INFURIATING! as every change made takes friggin 12 hours to propigate to see if it worked! My sites have been down since Friday!

I totally agree - with having been with hostway for 6 years and this August/Septmeber 2009 we have had nothing but consistent problems from them - our merchant manager shopping cart lying on the shared windows server has started to run at a slow pace sometimes taking up to 20 minutes just to load a single web page - the product section of admin our back office has now totaly gone down so we can do not work and the search box on our shopping cart is now also not working properly - customers are getting internal server errors when they type anything in - to top it all off our sitecontrol ecommerce section has been totally down for over 2 weeks.
The worst part of all is that Hostway do not give a big bad S!t. Numerous phone calls to tech and supervisors have solved nothing - they are a bunch of incompentent liars.
They say they are working on getting issues fixed - you wait and wait and nothing happens - if you did not contact them you would never hear from them.
They use multiple names when you contact them - you raely hear the same name twice. They have numerous supervisors who you can rarely get hold of - that's an amusing thing - a supervisor of a company like Hostway who refuses to speak to customers on the telephone - what kind of a shabby business is this - they used to be an okay company but now they really are laughable.

What is going on? All of my sites are down and my email is down too. http://www.valueweb.com doesn’t work. When I try to call the number on the Hostway.com site, I go thru the voice system, only to get disconnected no matter what I try. I have had websites with Valueweb for over 10 years and never a problem until now. This a BIG problem! Has anyone been able to contact them?

I'm having the same problems. I'm glad I Googled for complaints before sending back the 49 Page! (Yes, 49 page PDF document of legaleeze) hosting agreement.
I have gotten run around after run around trying to transfer a domain from one (bad) service to another. Fortunately they took so long in doing it, I finally wised up and I'm not pouring good money after bad.

All I had was a domain name and they screwed me over that too...for a measly $35. They charge my credit card with no notice (they say they emailed, didn't get it) I say, charge my card AFTER you hear from me, not when you don't, BAD POLICY! Anyway, cancelled less than a week into the new year and wouldn't prorate...demanded the whole $35, for a service I am not using. I have to say, for a simple domain name, I can't imagine how awful they are at web hosting. Never use or reccomend for anything!

Totally Agree,

I have NEVER had so many issues over and over again. The only reason I'm still with them is that I can't get the owner of this company to switch. (Seems to think bigger is better)

Our company must have over 20 trouble tickets over the years; One is understandable, two is acceptable everything else is incompetence on thier part.

Matter of fact I'm on the phone now listening to over 20 minutes of music after being disconnected by them earlier. (Another 10 minutes of music and no help)

The techs can't help, they ALWAYS have to send it to a level 2 support cause they 'don't have access to the server'. What the hell are they there for then.

Oh, and they charge for everything, things other servers give for free.

Completely pissed off customer

I called ValueWeb Tech support because I was having trouble trying to reinstall my website and was told that the license had expired and for me to purchase a new software, mainly DreamWeaver, Wha!
All I wanted to do was log onto my site and the Tech just say's he's sorry!
I have been w/ them for about 5 yrs. and no problem. until this merger or whatever w/ Hostway!
I am definitely through with them!

I agree. I just switched from Valueweb to GoDaddy (The largest in the business & the best service record). I signed up for 4 years Domain Name Resistration and 3 years Web Hosting for a total paid of $269.40. That breaks out to $1.37 per month for 4 years for One Domain Registration, $5.66 per month for 3 years for Web Hosting, and allows me to host multiple Web Sites (Domains) with no further domain registration. I had been hosted by ValueWeb for 6 years and have used NetworkSolutions as my registrar for the same 6 years. I have cancelled both. When I called GoDaddy to make the changes, I was on hold for ONLY 2 MINUTES and I also received a call from their Tech support Rep the next day to see how things were going and to offer assistance if needed. THAT IS SERVICE!

I agree. My 3 accounts were with Sitehosting and were switched to Hostway in April. Shopping carts have not worked since and nobody at technical support is able to solve the problem. I have been told that no secure server was ever setup for the transferred accounts and that the problem has been sent to an upper level Administrator. What a joke this company is!

I must agree. I just started to use valueweb.com and attempted to get ahold of tech support. They did answer in a timely manner but fell short of answering simple questions about setting up the CGI bin and accessing code within the bin via a simple command within an html file. The links on their site in your control panel are DEAD and have always been dead.

After only being online with them for less than 24 hours I have already decided to cancel on Monday morning since it is Saturday and they are closed all weekend. I WILL GET AN ACTUAL CANCELLATION NUMBER from them. I did not know of their numerous numbers of problems until searching it on google. I wish I had only searched sooner.

BTW, I have found several WHP who offer much more for a lot less money than valueweb.com does. I will never use them again.
