Staples - Unjustifiably harassed by employee

On Sunday, April 18 (2021) at approximately 5:20pm, I came to Staples on 800 Nitro Market Place, Crosslanes, WV 25313, with my husband and 2 small children, to buy some paper and USB drives, when one of your employees (male, heavier set, Caucasian, possibly in his mid 30s to early 40s), approached us about masks. I had my mask in hands and was putting it on, when your employee (described above) began to harass me about my mask. He said that it wasn't think enough and because of that he was not letting me into the store. When I asked whether he is following some sort of company policy that regulates how thick of a mask clients must wear in order for them to be allowed to enter into your store, he could not provide me with that information. Yet, he kept insisting that the mask I was wearing was not good enough to stop a virus from passing through and that I cannot wear it while shopping at your store. The man is not a medical professional and therefore should not be making such statements. Now, I have been wearing this mask for months and ensured that it strictly follows CDC guidelines on masks, prior to purchasing it. I wore it in a hospital on numerous occasions. I wore it at a grocery store. I wore it wherever I went and had NEVER once has any issues, complaints or negative comments about it, let alone harassment. Your employee was harassing me about it for several minutes, refused me basic, standard service, and eventually had me leave the store to stand outside with my children, while my husband was shopping inside. I am very disappointed in that Staples permits such unprofessional and perhaps even illegal behavior and allows harassing of their customers inside their facilities. I hope, at least, that your department will have the courtesy to take this information seriously and remedy this situation by ensuring that this does not happen again, to other possible customers of yours. However, if this situation is not remedied within a timely manner, I will be forced to take farther measures to ensure that someone does remedied this very unpleasant situation.

Desired outcome: That employee should for the very least be told to stop fraudulently posing as a medical professional, giving clients medical advise and regulating what masks are appropriate or sufficient to stop a microscopical particle, such as a virus
