I went on HomeAway website (owned by VRBO) to plan my vacation. I made 3 separate reservations with different rental properties. When the Corona Virus hit I knew i had to cancel my trip in May 2020. I went on all 3 properties in HomeAway and sent cancelation emails as requested. 2 of the property owners refunded me immediately and 1 gave no response. After several emails to Property Owner Troy Gubler, Unit_1600753, Property #1052633vb I finally got an email from him telling to cancel with VRBO. "They prefer that the client cancels either online or by phone, they process the billing and funding". When I received this email I contacted VRBO customer service letting them know about his email and requested my refund of $220.54. VRBO explained to me this isn't how the refund process works. The refund must come from the property owner! They tried to contact Troy while i was on the phone to no avail. I was told customer service would follow up and send me an email. On April 21, 2020 I received an email from VRBO stating "On behalf of HOMEAWAY we apologize for this inconvenience. Rest assured that an email was sent to the owner advising him to contact you as soon as possible on how to refund your payment on a different way." To this date I still have not been refunded by Mr. Gubler. Be Warned... Lisa Salmons
