Mavis Discount Tire

On 8/2/2019 I went to Mavis to confirm and get an estimate. I was doing all my car repairs with Mavis prior to this and was told at last appointment that the squeaking in my engine was a belt and pulley. So on this date I actually dropped the car off to get a real estimate of what is going on with the belt and pulley. The attached receipt claims that "crank pulley coming apart est serp belt tensioner crank pulley est 943.41." I did not have a check engine light on prior to dropping car off. The receipt claims that "2 codes in sytem P1524 code man specific p0117 enging cooland temp circuit low."

The mechanic came to the counter with Manager who printed this estimate out for me. The mechanic was concerned that I was not going to do this repair right away. He said to the manager " cant we at least put a new belt on?" He explained to me that the belt was down to 2 grooves out of 5 of the serpentine belt. I told him I cannot afford this $943.41 bill! The manager told him that the car needs more than just a belt.

The mechanic was worried about me leaving the shop in the condition the car was in. He seemed concerned for my welfare. However, the manager just let me walk out.

Next, I took the car to a local mechanic who was recommended by a friend. Forrest Inn Car Repair. As the enclosed receipt claims all that was needed was a Harmonic Balancer and a belt. I paid $208.72!

Also, this mechanic at Forrest Inn noticed that the tires Mavis had put on for me on one of my last visits just a few months earlier, were put on the rims incorrectly. So he switched the tire tread and put them on the correct rims for the correct side of the car. This is not acceptable and I feel I was in danger for my life because there could have been a hydroplaning issue in my future if the tires were left like they were.

I just had to notify you that I feel this shop was not concerned with anything but getting a lot of money out of me. I am a female and I feel I was being MANipulated because I did not know any better.

Before this incident, I was always referring everyone to Mavis! But now, I feel very betrayed. This particular Manager was not one I usually would deal with but that should not matter.
