Midland Mortgage

Long story short, we paid off our mortgage 6 months ago. Midland sent a check of the balance of the escrow account. After waiting weeks to get it, I contacted them. I was told it had been cashed and was sent a copy of the check. Needless to say, it was stolen and fraudulently cashed. I reported it to their fraud department, followed their directions on what to do. More weeks go by. I call and am told that there was nothing they could do and that I needed to file a fraud claim with the bank that cashed the check. The bank officer shook her head with disgust, saying that Midland was responsible for doing that. I filed paperwork again and have been waiting for an additional month and a half. Two calls over three days have yielded no results, except for the fact that their internal communication process is as bad as their customer service. It's been 6 months. It shouldn't take this long to investigate an obvious forged check. It was even a third party cashed check, which I blame the subject bank for even processing. I am on the verge of launching legal action.
