I canceled my membership in October of 2007 after my 1 year contract was up. I was told that everything was handled. I was billed the following month. I called and was told it would be taken care of. Just in case, I filed a dispute with my bank. At the time, they were using Apex for billing, they changed to ABC Financial and I was billed in November for another month. I contacted ABC and was rudely told that I had to give 30 days notice. I tried to explain that I had canceled in October, but they didn't care. I again called Anytime Fitness and was assured that it would be handled. I also contacted my bank again and disputed the charges and blocked ABC from accessing my accounts. It's now 2010 and I just received my second phone call from Anytime or ABC wanting to update my billing information. I told the person that I had canceled the membership years before and had moved to another state. I called Anytime Fitness and was told that I had visited the club in 2009. This is impossible as I lived over 6 hours away at the times they claim I visited. I tried with no success to explain that I most certainly had not been to place and was belligerently told that I had. I have no intentions of paying these people on red cent as I had canceled my membership years previous. Their unprofessional attitude is unbelievable.
Hopefully the last update. After arguing for HOURS with this group of swindlers, they realized they screwed up. Imagine that? If they had just listened in the first place when I initially told them I had canceled my membership, none of this would have happened. Instead, they all got belligerent and started threatening me with collections. It wasn't until they admitted that they had received money from my account after I blocked ABC from access that they realized they had done something wrong. I forced their hand by asking them to look at their own financial records, explain why money was returned to me and for them to confirm the bank that was used. That's when the woman at the accounting firm hung up on me. Several hours later, I get a call with them both apologizing. Victory finally, but the emotional and physical toll from the stress was really bad. Do yourself a favor, never deal with any company that requires payment via ABC Financial.
Now, someone at Accounting Edge is threatening me with collections. She says that my account was put on "freeze" in 2008. This of course is after I canceled my 6 month membership. They of course claim it was an 18 month contract. They said my bank account had been billed in August of 2008, it has not. I mean honestly, what does it take to get these bunch of crooks to listen? ABC Financial, Accounting Edge, Anytime Fitness, wow what an incredible group of scammers!
I left a response on a comment you left on a different post, along with my contact information, in case you have not seen it and are still seeking further review that your memberships are in fact closed.
