Today March 6th, 2021 at approximately 2:10 pm I went into Menards in Morris Illinois, with my boyfriend and 2 daughters all had masks on with exception of myself. I clearly was wearing around my neck a medical mask exemption card. Upon entry one the young ladies behind the counter said "ma'am you need a mask." I replied "no I have my card right here."
Where promptly Kody came around from the counter and read my card, then replied, "you need to wear a mask, as this is private property and that's our policy." I then said "so you are aware of the fine when I call the attorney general to file a complaint?" Kody said, "that's our policy as its private property." I then called my family back and said." we were leaving and not spending our money here, as kody didn't read the part that said denying business services with a clear stated American Disability Act card is against the law."
I'm absolutely disgusted that you all as a company allow this infringement of my constitutional rights. If I choose to not wear a mask with a medical mask exemption card around my neck that is my God given right. I do not have to disclose my medical condition as its against the law to ask.
I wonder how all of you sleep at night? From the staff to the ceo that reinforces this bias and discrimination against people who have legitimate/medical reasons to not wear one!
I have family/ friends that works in all aspects of construction and I will be telling them about this situation and to boycott your company till changes are made to your policies. This is the same as denying access to your business because they are in a wheelchair and you made zero accommodations to let them in, shame on you all!
