Denny's - Free coffee brew

Upon receiving my receipt, I noticed a charge of $5.99 for the "free coffee brew"? I showed the waitress my email and she said to let them know about it when I go to pay, which I did. The lady who checked us out, began to argue with me regarding the free brew. When I went to show her the email, it disappeared! I called our waitress over and she VERIFIED the email to the lady. The lady told me she can not honor the free brew because I did not have a QR code! She also said, "the company never told us about any of this"... really? This was totally UNCALLED for and I seriously doubt I will ever go back! Either, you the company, alert your employees about specials/emails OR you need to better train the ones you have. Our waitress was super and I have no complaints about her. What really upset me was the fact that the cashier did not want to hear our waitress verify that she saw my email and simply REFUSED to honor the free coffee brew! The cashier did honor my 20% off for signing up for rewards but the $5.99 was much higher than the 20%! Shame, shame, shame that customerI was sent an email advertising the new strawberry french toast slam. If I ordered this, I would get the cold cremes are made out to be liars!
