Customer service is non-existent. They make little to no effort to resolve issues. We spent thousands of dollars here and below are the issues we encountered. 1) Initial delivery date was changed to a week later. 2) Half of the order was wrong - 2 of the 5 pieces were wrong color. 3) Promised a return call within 2 hours. 3 days later no call. 4) Called store and spoke with Kent, manager and was promised a returned call. No call - I had to call him back. 5) Furniture that was ordered was in showroom and was a closeout. Instead of delivering this furniture for the two wrong pieces, they insisted on sending me furniture from the warehouse (resulting in further delays), even after I repeatedly explained that I was tired of living out of boxes. They said it had to come from a warehouse out of town; then be delivered to another warehouse and once it checked out, they would get it delivered to me, but they couldn't provide me with a date. The furniture was right there in Sarasota- Clark Rd location! I finally, convinced the warehouse to deliver the furniture that is located right in the store. The warehouse was able to convince the Sarasota store to do what I had been requesting for days. Even with a local delivery and all the inconvenience, the best they can do is deliver the correct pieces six days later. No apologizes or compensation for their errors. Ridiculous! They repeatedly state they understand, as you are describing the issue, but they do not. They only offer lip service. I will never shop here again.

    We purchased a sofa, love seat and an area rug from Baer's of Port Charlotte and Sarasota in 2007. Both the sales person and customer service were disappointing. Both the salesman and customer service person strongly advised purchasing the protection plan and promised free refills of care solutions for the life of the warranty. Several times I tried to get the refill but every time there was some excuse given for not providing the refill. I went to the store again today for a refill since I am still within the warranty period but was told they don't do it anymore. What happend to their promise??? The rug we purchased was defective from the start. The nap is very uneven with long bits of the nap sticking up all over the rug. We called the store for service many times, wrote to the Baer's management, and emailed photos. We were told to take it up directly with the manufacturer. We even tried that but we got no results at all. Baer's wouldn't even return our calls or send out a representative to investigate the claim. So we are stuck with a defective rug and a very expensive protection plan where I can't even get refills on the solution as promised. I would never recommend purchasing anything from Baer's. There are so many good furniture stores in Florida with fabulous customer service, friendly and honest sales people who sell protection plans at a cheaper price that last 7 years verses the 5 year plan from Baer's and who gladly offer refills on the protection solution.

      Baer's Furniturekept my money, no furniture

      I gave deposit on furniture ($10, 000) 2 years ago. I have received no furniture and no refund of deposit. Larry Baer will not return my phone calls or my attorney's. When I inquired of their bookkeeping department, I was told that Larry Baer made an entry to "absorb" my money. I have no open orders and they owe me nothing.

          This is why boards such as this one do the public a great service. Too bad most customers don't come here first before paying for an item. I am on of them - I believed the PR given to me to by a friend who only saw the set up rooms and never had to deal with them professionally. Thank you for writing about your issues, time to see if Facebook can help you! Didnd't the government try to outlaw huksters like these?

          Hello fellow patrons who have purchased furniture from Baer's, Yes all of have the right to get your monies back or at least an exchange on a decent and quality product.
          I had the unfortunate of working at Baer's Customer Service dept in Pompano Bch. FL. You are correct this company only cares about making and taking money from there customers and to @!#$%&? with their customers. The Service Dept does not give a damm about the customers or their employees. Employees are told how to jump how high because weneed the job. They do not respect the customers in any way nor the employess. This company is a very bad company While I worked a mere 5 weeks and I did my best forthe customers I was told to leave they said that I was not working out. They have 3 supervisors and none of them will take a customers to resolve a customers complaint only then when the customer threatens is the only time the supervisors will speak to the customer.           This happened to me at the Boca Raton store also. I have called the manager at the store on numerous occasions and no return call or my money. I am owed $300 + dollars and this will be the last time that I will be using this furniture company and will NEVER reccommend anyone going there

          I just had the very same experiencce with Baers. The sales rep will tell you that you can cancel at anytime..but the managers love to keep your money and not give you back you security deposit.

          This is scary...I have had a call out to the manager for the past 3 weeks and no one will call be back. They kept my deposit as well, although mine was significantly less than yours.
          I placed the deposit for a piece of furniture that would not work in my home due to size. When I returned the cushion, I inquired about a different item, but decided that it wouldn''t work in my home either. The salesman insisted that I did not need to do anything to cancel my deposit. One week later he called me to tell me "I need to hear from you or I can't refund your deposit." I have been exteremly busy and did not have time to return his call until last week, when I reqalized that they did indeed charge the deposit to my credit card!
          I hope the above comment is not a sign that I'm headed down their path!
