Dollar General - Unethical behavior

I went into my local Dollar General on 03/28/2020 @ 10:15am. I had a coupon I wanted to use. My coupon was for Febreze Unstoppables and other Febreze products. The coupon below the small space Unstoppables that were on the shelf said the product was eligible for me to use the coupon. I get to the register to use the coupon and the $4 never came off, when every product I have was eligible. The manager there was very rude and unpleasant to deal with. She was a short lady with mid length brown hair, I do not remember her name. I have had several issues with her in the past but I never reported anything about my issues. I read my coupon closely again and it stated as I thought my items were eligible. I tried to explain to the manager that there was a discrepancy with the two coupons. They both said the item I had were eligible, but the $4 was not coming off. The manager proceeded to argue with me about the different coupons. The manage literally argued with me about the coupons. After arguing with me she went to the isle and grabbed a coupon but it was not the one next to the Unstoppables ( the item I was telling her about initially ) so of course the one she grabbed did not say anything about the one I was talking about or had. I was not dealing with an employee who did not know what was going on or how to resolve the issue. I was dealing with a manager. Someone who should know how to listen to understand, then diffuse/resolve the issue. Needless to say I was unable to use my coupon that I know the items I had qualified for. The coupon that I had and the coupon in the store did have different/conflicting wording, but they said the same thing and the items I had qualified for me to use the coupon. If the store manager has listened and been a little more helpful I would not have to be writing anything about my experience there.

First off, Dollar General's system is TERRIBLE for coupons. If you were trying to use two coupons, that was the problem. The system will only take one (the first one scanned). If you were trying to use a digital and a paper coupon, that was the problem. The digitals won't work with paper coupons the majority of the time. The only way to "fix" this is to just price override the item to match the coupon amount. However, price overriding an item can trigger a flag and they could accuse the cashier of stealing (which they are accused of frequently). I'm an Assistant Manager at Dollar General and deal with this frequently.
