Ulta Beauty - General manager

Upon my contact on 08-19-2023 at approximately 1100 hours I went to Ulta (3600 Youngfield St, Wheat Ridge Co) to return a blush. I brought my own blush that I had purchased years prior. I was advised by the front clerk to find a salesperson she did not help me find one she just said to locate one. Once I located a rep, there were three of them. I discussed my situation and asked for help in locating a color that would match my skin tone. One rep offered a brand and color that she thought would match. I stated It may be too dark. The GM of the store stated, "I am wearing that one". I turned and looked at her and stated she has darker skin with a pretty olive tone"and it would not look the same on me. The GM just stood there staring at me like I had said something wrong. I stated"am I wrong" the GM Instead of helping simply walked away. One other rep helped me find one other brand that may work. I asked her how long she had worked for Ulta stating it may have been discontinued before she started. This female stated finally the brand I have Kohls sells. She did not make any more attempt to make a sale, so I was left to leave, get my refund and I guess I am going to Kohls. I ended up getting my refund and leaving the store. I felt as if the level of customer service was less that appropriate. None of the three individuals standing there could care less if I purchased product in the store or went elsewhere. I then called to speak to the GM, she never told me her name but admitted she was offended because I had made the statement, she was dark. I never said that I said she was darker than me with an olive tone. If a manager can't conduct herself professionally even if they feel it was something offensive, this is probably not the position she should be in as a representative for your company. The way the manager conducted herself also reflected on the attitude of the other two employees, which lead me to feel I was wrong and felt very offended even though what I said was not offensive. It is rather unfortunate circumstances as I will never ever go back to an Ulta store to purchase anything. She made me feel degraded, humiliated and very uncomfortable to say the least. It was an awful experience, I even tried to call and talk it out, but she basically stated she was offended by me calling her dark. Which is not what I said. I said (you are darker than me with a pretty olive tone) I am not sure how this statement is offensive. I have spoken to many of my friends about the situation and they all agree this manager is in the wrong. I will be honest this will be a story I will continue to talk about for a very long time. I would like a return call from corporate as I would like to see how this situation can be resolved.

Beyond upset.

Desired outcome: Return call from corporate headquarters.Barb Webb [protected]
