At this branch of Vons I always have a difficult time checking out. There seems to be a poor employee culture at the store, and I actually believe they do it on purpose. This time I did not receive enough assistance at the self-checkout. The self-checkout experience here is very dependent on the posted employee who hands you your required number of bags, etc. Three times during my checkout I needed assistance: firstly because a price seemed questionable, secondly I needed to obtain a bag for groceries, and the third time the cash register stopped working. All three times the employee was not available. The first time she had left her post and the second and third times she was chatting with a gentleman.
