Days Inn - hotel

I've talked with Days Inn in Foley and the corp office about the Days Inn there charged my debit card for two nights that we did not stay. Plus they charged me twice what Expedia said it would cost. When she talked to Expedia they said they would reserve the room for one night and we could let the hotel know if we wanted another night. On October 15th 2019 my daughter was in an automobile accident. We live in AR about 8 hrs away from Foley. We had not slept for two days. My daughter was able to call Expedia and make reservations for one night at the hotel. When we arrived a few hours later I went in and I asked if I could see the room. I was comfortable with the traffic around the hotel. I looked at the room. The room didn't look too bad but the Odor was horrible. The carpet smelled really bad. It was a pet friendly hotel and you could tell that someone's pet wasn't trained. I told the person at the desk that I thought we'd make other arrangements. I never checked in. We left and I called my daughter immediately to have her cancel the room. She called Expedia and they said no problem because you have 24 hrs to cancel. They called her back on the same day within the same hour and said that the hotel would not cancel. I called the hotel after I spoke to her, again, within the hour or maybe 30 minutes. The clerk was extremely rude. She told my daughter we had to let them know we wanted to cancel the reservation by the next day. Well, this was the same day. She told my daughter that the manager wasn't there. When I talked to that girl at the hotel I ask to speak to the manager, she had just told me the manager was there, she said he always got off at 11am. This was after 11. I reminded her that she had just said he or she, was too busy to talk to me. I immediately called my bank and told them what happen. Within that short period of time they had already charged my debit card, which I never gave them nor did I sign anything, for 2 nights and twice the rated Expedia quoted. These workers seem to me to be very dishonest. The Days Inn should pay attention to that because they are probably cheating other elderly people and pocketing the money. I'm 71 years old and I have extremely high blood pressure and had just had my fifth extensive back surgery. Due to that episode my blood pressure has been really high, I can't sleep. They put me thorough the worst ordeal I can ever remember. I'm seeing my doctor as soon as I can and I'm headed back to Houston to my neurosurgeon next week. Right now, I have an appointment with my attorney to see what can be done to fix this. They better hope I don't end up in the hospital or deceased because my family will definitely see that they will be held responsible.
My bank has the Days and time that I contacted them that day and the days after. I also have it in my phone to prove that all of this happened within a few hours. I've stayed in many days inns all over the different states and I've never experienced anything like this.

Days Inn - desk clerk

My daughter had a wreck in Foley. My husband and I had to rush to Foley from Lake Village Arkansas. My daughter called one of the places like trivia to ask about reservations at your hotel. When we arrived about an hour after she called to see about reservations, I went in and told them that if we stayed we would probably need two rooms the next night. I asked if I could look at the room because and I told them at the desk, I wasn't sure if it was where we wanted to stay. When I went in the room it didn't look too bad but the odor was almost unbearable. It smelled musky and it actually smelled like really dirty socks. I gave them the key and told them that I didn't think we would stay and that I thought we were going to make other arrangements. We left and found another hotel in Foley that was much nicer and more convenient. My daughter immediately called to cancel reservations and they told her they would. Then they called her back and said the motel wouldn't not cancel the reservation. I called the motel and told them that I told them we were probably going to do something else and she was very rude and said they would not cancel it because I didn't tell them that weren't staying. Which was not true. She told my daughter that she didn't cancel soon enough. All of this happened in a time span of a couple of hours or less. According to what my daughter was told we had 24 hrs to cancel. The girl said she didn't call to cancel until the day after. That was most definitely not true. As I said and my daughter told her to that this was done the same day in a matter of hours. She told my daughter the manager wasn't there and she told me to that he gets off at 11. She told me that he was there even though he get off at 11am. She said the manager was too busy to talk to me. They not only charges me for one night, they charged me for two plus they charged me about $20 more on each charge. If you will go back and pull my name up, Gwen Herman, you will see that I have stayed in many days inn motels from AR, LA, AL, South Carolina, North Carolina, MS ETC
I have never been treated this way. I am 70 years old and my husband Walter, is 71. Our daughter was in a wreck and we drove 7 hrs to get to Foley and then to be treated this way is a disgrace. I called my bank and I will get with them Monday to dispute these charges. We own a business, actually two businesses and I work with many people that travel. I have always told them the best place to stay. I'm sure I'm just a nobody to a big business that y'all are but I've learned if you are disrespectful with people they won't be back. I was not only treated disrespectful I was lied to. Being dishonest will ruin businesses. I do hope that something will be done about this.
