I scheduled an appointment over instagram with a tattoo artist in october, and his schedule deposit is $100. so I paid that, scheduled my appointment for the 7th of October at 2pm. I asked him over instagram on the 2nd of october what his cancellation policy was. he told me as long as it wasnt a no call no show that it was fine, and I said okay. I never said I was rescheduling I just wanted to know what the policy was just in case. at 1:10 pm on the day of my appointment (50 minutes before I am supposed to arrive) october 7th, the tattoo artist tells me he has taken me off the schedule and when I would like to reschedule for. So he cancels my first appointment without my consent. We reschedule for the 22nd of october at 2pm. I show up for my appointment at 1:55, and wait for an hour. He never shows up. I find out from the owner on the 26th of october that no one has heard from the artist, and the owner says that if I haven't heard from the artist in a week that the owner will personally refund my deposit. I wait until the 4th of november to contact the owner again, and he tells me that the artist has been arrested and will be out the 10th of november. this conversation is when the owner backtracks and says he cannot refund my deposit because that's "not how their shop works." So he tells me to keep trying to get my deposit from the tattoo artist. On the 11th of november I finally hear from the artist, and he tells me he was arrested. at this point I tell him I just want my refund for the deposit. I requested the refund on the 11th as well as on the 22nd when he didn't show up. He tells me it will be a little while to get back on his feet but that he will refund me. On january 27th of 22 I ask the artist if I will be seeing the refund soon. he ignored the question and said he and his wife have covid. so I try to get clarification and ask if that is a no to the deposit. he laughs at me and says that isn't what he said even though he didn't say anything about my deposit in his response. he says he will get back to me about it. at this point I have already been waiting 3 months. so I contact the owner on the 4th of february and say I need the refund because i'm tired of dealing with the unprofessionalism. the owner's exact response was "aw unfortunately we let him go at the beginning of the year." so the owner still tries to deny any responsibility.
