Travel America sells travel certificates to car dealerships that offer them to customers when they buy a car. At first I was very excited about taking a Las Vegas trip.

Travel America Vacations Inc. offers you a choice of 3 vacations. A cruise, a trip to Vegas or a resort stay in Mexico.

Once I finally got through to a travel agent, I tried to book Vegas on the long weekend the agent said I was better off with Mexico because there is no availability in Vegas on the Long Weekend. That's complete BS because I found several available flight and hotel packages on other travel booking websites.

Anyway, I agreed to look at the Mexico property but the resort I was presented with was a timeshare location which means I would have to listen to a 2 hour presentation before getting to my room.

Don't fall victim to this clever scam. And after you add up the fees you're basically being charged full price for the vacation.

Travel America Vacations needs to be shut down by the California Attorney General.

I urge all of you to call the Attorney General's office in California and report these criminals.

I had the same experience with Travel America, phone number listed on the booklet was not in service, I guess I did not miss much after reading others' bad experiences

Feeling $4000-worth of stupid. Paid that to Exploria Resorts in February after sales pitch from very nice people. Terrible company. Received certificate for Carnival Cruise from TAV. Sent $40 (more stupid) to them to register for trip, supposed to receive "correspondence on how to finalize your booking, " and have received NADA. Nothing. Zip. Wish we could get our money back from Exploria.

Yes they are a big scam do not bother booking anything with them. They take your money and leave you with no vacation at all. You have to book 4 months in advance then they say by then your certificate is expired. WTH...between them and the company that gave me the certificate Direct Buy I got taken for over $2000

I agree it's a scam! We bought a quad and were given a free trip to Las Vegas through diamond getaway. Still trying to get in. The next date they open for travel is April 24 for august. Our letter has to be there on April 24, not a day too early or they will throw out our application. A day too late and we don't get our trip. Bad bad business.

GOD, if you ###S just read the stuff first, instead of jumping down people's throats because you are stupid, the world would be a better place... Travel America is not a scam, you only think it's a scam cause you are frickin ###s... Yes this is a scam. Please do not get caught to it. They ask for 40$ first and then put barriers such as to redeem the trip within 18 months and to reserve trip dates within 4 months. You have to send the request by post and they send a simple email stating the dates are not available or apply within 4 months, which is not available in their website. All the dates listed are five months ahead and when you wait to catch 4 month periods dates are taken away from the site. They worry only your first 40$ and then let you come behind until you get tired and give up. PLEASE DO NOT GET CHEATED. Travel America should shutdown by American Government.

Bought furniture from Ashley about 4 years ago - received the trip and went a year later... Saw the offer again last year so I decided to upgrade my bedroom. Same deal all around. Even the fees. I cannot believe in this economy their charges were not raised - Anyway i went again in Jan 2013... and as long as I see this deal from them every couple of years, I will upgrade the house in turn. Great deal by Ashley and travel America - If you have a problem, find out who the rep is from travel america through the retailer and call them direct and follow their instructions- it's not rocket science people

I called the travel america vacations number and it's an automated 20 minute message. They also require you to send in 40 dollars right away which I don't like. What a rip.

Just came across this post regarding Travel America Inc. I was close to sending in my money but have second thoughts now. Thanks for sharing your experience with Travel America Inc. or Travel America Vacations. Not sure what the correct company name is either. Anyhow I found the phone number to contact Travel America Vacations on their website. It's [protected] if you decide to use your certificate. I'm returning my travel certificate to the dealerships I purchased my car from tomorrow morning.

Travel America Vacations Scam Alert: The diamond getaway offered by Travel America out of Ferndale Washington is a total rip off. Buyer Beware. Make sure you compare the prices offered by Travel America Vacations inc with expedia or travelocity before you confirm anything. Travel America Vacations is nowhere near being a deal. They are scam travel operation out of Canada.

You're better off booking your vacation with a real travel agency than these crooks.

Good luck finding their phone number.
