I purchased a gift card to give to my wife for her birthday few years ago, and due to pandemic, she could not have time to use it until this past December; she desired to use it to buy gift for our grand-children. However, when she went to the store that indicated in the gift card, the card reader could not read the card value or allowed my wife redeems the amount of money in the card, CAD $100.00. I called the number that printed in the card and was told that the card is in good standing was fully activated and ready to be used.
My wife went to another store and the issue appeared the same, the credit card reader could not read the card.
I contacted the company again and asked for a refund of the purchased amount. Then I received email from the company customer service indicated that due to there was no proof of purchase of the card, the company can not give me refund.
I opposed the result with fact that after more than a year of purchased anything whoever would keep the receipt when there was a trust that there would not be anything wrong with the purchase. I was promised that the refund will be issued and wait for at least 4 weeks to receive it. Recently I received another email indicated that the issue is resolved as it was before that there will be no refund due to there was no receipt of purchased.
I have never expected the gift card was no good to be used so I that the receipt was disposed after a few months of purchased it.
As a retiree, I don't have much money to spend out of my limited pension amount so I hope you will help me retrieve the amount of money I paid for the gift card.
Thanks.
